Cleaning the oven

Cleaning the oven is one job I really hate. To remove built up grease you have to use very nasty chemicals like caustic soda and they these end up going down the drain. Every time I've done it in the past I've ended up damaging the thermocouple of the thermostat.

Since I've had the latest oven I haven't bothered cleaning the oven and haven't been too fussy about the stove top and range hood either. As a result, my oven was looking very neglected indeed.

Enter the Oven Wizard - a little man who comes to your house and magically restores the oven to as new condition.
Why wasn't I aware of this before? I will never clean the oven again and I won't have to feel guilty about it.

Here are the photos I took when he was finished.
Everything is sparkling. Whoo Hoooo!!

I have one of those too....just brilliant.
the oven wizard obviously flies round the world....

What's your problem Ralphy?
Outsourcing is standard business practice these days.

Hubby has outsourced window washing, clearing out the gutterings, some gardening and lawn mowing.
I've outsourced the oven and done my bit for the local small business economy.

Are we not both on the side of the beneficent?

I would have to pay him combat pay to clean my oven.. I have been procrastinating buying a new one and haven't bothered cleaning it for some time.

I have a "self-cleaning" setting on my oven. All very good, but I learned the hard way that you really have to get all the crusty stuff out first when you have a major spill in the oven. I set it to clean and after a while the stuff in the bottom caught on fire and I couldn't get the door open (the door locks itself until the oven gets below a certain temp). Here's smoke pouring out the vent and no way of putting the fire out. What a mess. Lessons learned the hard way.....

My stove is 25 years old... and only 3 burners work... It's a mess but I'm going to replace it... Just don't know yet if we are staying in the house or not. If we are, I will go for a higher end model..

My mom has a stove with only three burners working. Instead of replacing the burner, she removed it and now uses the opening to hold a mixing bowl so she has a hand free.
