Forum member seriously injured

Holly, I check in here every day to see how you're doing. Glad to see you're slowly recovering.
bless you, thanks Marcy.. 🧡 ... had the dressings changed again today by the district nurse.. I haven't this particular one for 2 weeks.. so she was really delighted to see that my hand is healing fast... she said she can no longer see the tendons... so that's good news....

I wish my ribs would heal as fast tbh...

Roll on Lidocaine rubbed in with a warm wrap may help with the Tendonitis pain.
I find it and slowly bending movements relieve painful stiffness when it happens.
Support that hand as you sleep with a towel up an inch or so. from the mattress may help also.

good advice however I already use muscle relaxants on the arm..plus I have another pillow to rest the arm on when I'm sleeping because it's the one that got damaged in the crash.. and I have to keep elevated to try and reduce the swelling.. but sadly none of those things are working on the tendonitis...

Cold may relieve swelling and slow stretches can relieve pain almost immediately.
Does your skin / Joint feel cold or hot when it wakes you up? Sometimes a couple
sips of cold water when you wake up and before bedtime may help if you dehydrate a bit.
U been thru a bunch of heat, just like St. Louis this summer. We finally got a week of nice
summer here but it's supposed to heat up again.

PT... my arm is encased in banadaging there's no skin showing...

I drink cold water a lot, I even have a water glass by my bed ...I am not dehydrated at all

Sometimes us elderly don't like bandaging; it may be tight enough to cause discomfort.
My limbs don't like elastic wraps. Sox come off in evening time. First thing they say is
Elastic wraps that Elbow and use Cold Pacs.

Sweet @hollydolly, just wanted to say again that I'm so glad you're on the way to recovery,😌 albeit a lot of sh.t to go through first.
thank you LT... yes...sadly the chit to get on the other side is not much fun, but I appreciate you and all my friends here who have been so supportive of my journey. 🧡 It's been nearly a month now... I would like it even if I could just sleep without pain that would be a great turn around...

Thinking about you this morning, Holly. I just knew that not being able to clean would bother you a lot. I know you're used to getting up and giving your house a run-through every morning, like I do. When my leg was broken, not being able to do that, sitting there feeling like my house was dirty -- made me very irritable. I remember trying to vacuum from my wheelchair and getting completely tangled up in the cord.
I sure wish I could come over and clean for you.

Your new slogan is one of my all time favorites. My mother had a home beauty course she had bought in the thirties that I loved to look at when I was a little girl with lots of little pots of make-up and diet and exercise instructions that would make us laugh today. The theme that was at the bottom of every page was, "Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better.”

I have had advice to ensure I have dashcams fitted to the new car, because unlike my accident which fortunately happened in daylight on the motorway with plenty witnesses.. if there's a next time it could be on a country lane with no witnesses.. so a dashcam front and rear would be the next best thing
Like you, I was lucky to have good witnesses since the kid lied to the officer right up front. It didn't take us long to think about the what-if I hadn't had others see the accident. So as soon as we replaced the pick up, we had a camera installed.

When we replaced the old car, we had a camera a few days after we took delivery of the new one.

They aren't that expensive (camera/installation around $500) & it can save you a lot of problems down the road to show law enforcement what happened. We wouldn't hesitate to give the chip to an officer for any incident it recorded if it would help an investigation.

thak you Della.. I kew you'd understand...having been there yourself..

I was doing this exactly getting really irritable.. looking at the fact that so much needed doing, I couldn't stand it any more...

Today was another hurdle overcome.. I managed to get some batch cooking done for the freezer.. .. not gonna say it was easy but it was doable, and that's the great step forward... (y)

Lilac this is where I miss my husband, he would have fitted that for me easily and of course at no cost...

I just feel really annoyed that I've had to spend so much money.. on various things I wouldn't necessarily have had to spend, as well the damage to my body, becase of a stupid idiotic, driver not obeying the rules of the road..

@hollydolly, you've done a lot by yourself since the accident & I have faith that you'll continue. Just take it one day at a time & it will come together. I have little patience myself when I'm hurt/sick & want to get things done.

I wholeheartedly agree that you spend money on things that you shouldn't have had to when someone else is the cause of the problem. I hope you get reimbursed for at least some of these.

As far as the camera, that has given me peace of mind. Especially when I'm driving & I see someone who shouldn't be on the road do something real stupid. You'll find a business that does installation. I prefer the camera that has a solid mount (front & rear views) over one that you do yourself. Just take your time. 🤗

Holly, I was without my online device for eight days (it was in the shop). I'm just catching up on posts, especially those from people I'm familiar with. This post, sharing that you're healing quickly, make me so glad. I've come across other SF posts you've made since this one, and your warm, smart, gracious, fun-loving self is shining through. Your posts convince me you're really healing well.❤️🤗

JBR...you're one of the sweetest kindest people on here.. and I thank you always for your concern of me since my accident... I'd miss you if you weren't part of this forum family... 🧡

Just got back from the salavage yard to view my car and anything that's in it that might be salvable..... OMG... the car is in a much worse condition than even I knew from those few photos given to me by the emegency services.

In the back of the car when the accident happened I had £150 worth of groceries.. one full zipped up insulated trolley bag.. and 2 carrier bags full...
The car tumbled over 3 times, and everything exploded... even the spare tyre came flying out of it's housing.. the food that was in the carrrier bags exploded all over...yogurt.bananas, potatoes... and there was a Jam jar, a case of bottled water.. frozen food packets...

The cushions in the back seat destoryed by all the gunk , blood, gore.. glass... the contents of the glove compartment exploded out into the front seat...

The fact that the food was still in there albeit all over the car , for a whole month... meant when I opened the car doors, maggots and flies were evrywhere..:sick:

The destruction of the car itself caused by the woman crashing into me, is really upsetting... much worse than I knew... ,

Brace yourself for a disgusting sight.....

That gouging in the metal is under the passenger door.... so I'd been told by witnesses that she's hit me on the rear passenger wheel.. and this is what I've believed all along... but as we looked at it today.. the gouging is like an old fashioned can opener had been taken to it right underneath the front passenger door... so she must have hit me there... rather than at the rear..

see how many of the groceries which were in the boot ( trunk) landed in the middle of the car on the floor, because the parcel shelf snapped off .. and when the car overturned 3 times.. everything went everywhere , yogurt exploded.. bananas which had been thrown..in the middle of the floor behind the driver seat full of maggots and flies...

That is an amazing amount of damage. You had your windscreen right in your lap.
exactly Llynn this is how I ended up with so much glass in my mouth and in my hair.......I'll never be more grateful that I wear sunglasses when I drive.. because I could have been blinded by that glass...

It's all over the front seats... everything is covered in lumps of glass.. but also millions of tiny shards..
The salvage guy said he would get anything out that I wanted, rather than me go in for it myself because of the sheer amount of glass in there.

Also the boot ( trunk) and the rear passenger door were jammed shut, so he had to prise them open..

I don't use the word "miracle" often, but I think it was a real miracle that you survived that. Good grief.

I hope this accident results in some legal restriction on driving with garments that restrict vision or physical motion, or both, which I'm sure that one did. Anyone who is so "religious" that they must wear that garment all the time should not be driving.

HollyDolly if you had side airbags and they deployed they most likely helped you a lot.
Yep that wheels is totaled for sure, most likely some good parts left but not many.
Other than engine, trans and rotors / calipers brakes.

I saw a similar accident at a mini mall entrance. Car ran a light and hit a mini van. It rolled
over just once but very violently. Driver died, the car hit the street pole and just sat there
smoking. Fire trucks came but no real flames. They caught the Black Driver in Dicks Sporting Goods Store. ... :coffee:
Hiding in the clothing area. guess he was going to re-clad his self.
