Forum member seriously injured

Know of several accidents within the past few years that airbags didn't deploy.
When they first started using them they deployed too easily and blew out people's ear drums and windows sometimes. My guess they re did the sensors over the decades to prevent accidental deployment especially with side air bags now.

well no side airbags or front airbags deployed and given the force with which my car was hit, and overturned 3 times... I don't know what else you'd have to do to get them to deploy... I could have been killed there was no airbag protecting me

Sounds like a sensor/circuit was damaged micro seconds before a possible deployment or there might have been an existing issue which should trigger an alarm or dashboard light.

The car's black box should have that information.

I don't know maybe the bags not deploying might be why you are here today:)

I've heard other stories about people being in accidents where you would expect the air bags to deploy, but they hadn't. (None as extreme as your crash, but still.) People are always surprised when they don't. So maybe they aren't really that reliable. Pretty disturbing; if that's the case, we are mistakenly depending on something that may do nothing at all.

yes precisely that because I'm sure most of us think if we're in a collision then the bags will deploy and hopefully save us from death if not injury...

I was wondering if I should actually contact Ford.. and ask them why they didn't go off.... but I wouldn't know who to contact tbh.... or if indeed it would be an entire waste of time

I know people who would sue Ford for airbags not deploying like they were designed to do. Have a great lawyer if this happened to me. Unfortunately he is here, not London.

Americans are always looking for a good lawsuit. I think you have one.

Problem is that would be UK lawsuit. The European division is probably an LLC which would probably seperate itself from the core company in the US. And cars made and sold out of country frequently have different design features or lack there of. The lawyer would have to be familiar with UK law and European car requirements.

She'd be opening a can of worms, which is probably the last thing she needs now.

But I wonder if England has some road safety organization that should look into this.

Tody the Insurance company paid out for all the groceries which were lost in the crash.... because I had cover for that up to £150..

Talk about nit-picking.. they asked me to send proof .. I told them the receipts were in the car with the groceriess and was now crushed... so they asked for my bank statement ( god alone knows what would have happened if I'd paid by cash)......

I sent them my bank statement which clearly shows that at Sainsbury I spent X amount plus £16.00 at their fuel station, and at the next door supermarket M&S I spent another X amount.. the total came to £149.. and change.... which excluded the £60 insulated trolley bag which I'd just got not long before...

Today they sent me £133.00..... they took the Fuel cost off... even tho' I'd just filled up with fuel 5 miinutes before ...

It just seemed a bit mean to me...
You should have invited them to come smell the smashed, rotten bananas and see the maggots, @hollydolly don’t mean to be gross but sheesh…. Who’s head of this company, E Scrooge?!

trouble is even if I found some organisation who could or would look into it , they couldn't do any tests on the car because the car is now toast.. and is probably being used to make something else...

Rip.. little car ... for anyone that has only seen the smashed up version.. this was my car before...
