Huge Protests in the UK

Don't know if this makes me feel better to know we are not the only ones dealing with this stuff or sad that it's so widespread.
I know when I went to England years ago I saw so many small towns being taken over back then by foreign persons. Being set up
in small businesses all up and down the main streets. The city mall I went to I felt like I was in a totally different country. It
saddened me then.
very very unusual for a Mall to have foreign run stores... I've never come across that at all...

Many high street stores . almost always in cities, but rarely small towns, and cetainly not villages.... ..like small grocery stores, hardware.. Vape shops, Phone shops.. Sari shops... almot all run by immigrants... but not Malls....

you misunderstood me, I didn't say the mall was foreign stores. To clear it up for you , the customers IN the mall were 90% foreigners

This is a serious question, although I know it sounds dumb. How do all these immigrants, apparently mostly Pakistani, get into England? Are they admitted legally? It seems to me that would have to be the case, as England is an island, and they can't just walk in. And it's a long way to swim.

So if the UK laws are permitting this enormous amount of middle east immigration, my question is: why? Have the British politicians been bought off?

I'm having enough trouble trying to understand what is happening to my own country, let alone yours. Our news is, of course, mainly about our own issues. So forgive me for being so ignorant about this.
we have had a HUGE popuation of Pakistanis; and Indians since the 70's.. there were some in the decades earlier, but not the huge amount we have now.. some areas in the UK like Birmingham, and the surrounding towns.. some Northern cities, like the areas already mentioned with the grooming gangs .. and parts of London... are almost entirely popualted by pakistani and Indiaans...

They are not the problem ( grooming gnags aside)... the problem is for the last decade we have been inundated by Eastern Europeans.. some legal.. many illegal.. and now boatloads of illegal ''economic migrants'' arriving, some day 1000 to a boat... ...

I don't think that sounds dumb at all, @Sunny. I've been confused by this as well.

What are grooming gnags ?
Child sexual abuse is mostly carried out by relatives and other trusted figures. But in these cases, gangs used grooming techniques to find their victims in public: girls aged 11 to 16, mostly white, often from troubled backgrounds, would be flooded with attention from men a few years older, who often worked as taxi drivers or in takeaways; many were involved in the illegal drug trade. The girls would be given alcohol or drugs and then deceived or forced into sex with one man, who would then pass them on to be raped, often violently, by his friends or relatives.

"It is hard to describe the appalling nature of the abuse that child victims suffered," noted Alexis Jay's 2014 inquiry report into abuse in Rotherham. "They were raped by multiple perpetrators, trafficked to other towns and cities in the north of England, abducted, beaten and intimidated." Children were "doused in petrol and threatened with being set alight, threatened with guns, made to witness brutally violent rapes and threatened [that] they would be next if they told anyone. Girls as young as 11 were raped by large numbers of male perpetrators." Some victims were murdered: in Telford, Lucy Lowe died at 16 with her mother and sister when her abuser set fire to her home in 2000. She was pregnant, for a second time, by him when she died.

How many children were abused?

Very large numbers. In Rotherham, at least 1,400 girls were estimated to have been abused by grooming gangs between 1997 and 2013; in Telford, it is estimated that over 1,000 children were abused over three decades. In Rochdale, an inquiry identified 74 probable victims and evidence of a much wider problem. But the statistics are incomplete and highly contested.

How did the authorities respond?

A series of local inquiries have exposed an official response that was unforgivably inadequate. In her report, Jay said that South Yorkshire Police had treated child victims with "contempt", and that social workers had "underplayed" the problem.

In at least two cases, police arrested the fathers of abused girls when they attempted to remove their daughters from the houses where they were being abused. On another occasion, police attended a derelict house and found an intoxicated girl with several male abusers; they arrested the child for being "drunk and disorderly", but detained none of the men.

Sunny this is the reasons for the protests because the govt is just ignoring the needs of the indiginous people in preference to the acceptance of Masses of immigrants , and no-one knows the reason why.....

I have been there twice. If I want to share my travels and my experiences when there I will add them to my Diary. The topic of this thread
is about Protests in the UK. It's too long of a story to off track this thread with. My post was simply affirming the fact that there is a large
amount of immigrants in the UK also.

Exactly this thread is about the UK>.... I'd be interested in how you came to your conclusions depending on the areas you visited, and as your making comments on the ''large immigrant population'' ad how long you were here to make those observations that they were immigrants and not lie you.. a tourist... .. I can only presume you were in an area... which has a large popualtion of immigrants.... not everywhere has.... inclduding where I live....

presume as you need to;) Peace be with you

I'm sorry to hear about this unrest in other fabulous countries. I can understand the flight of immigrants from despots, but I can't explain how to address the issue fairly either. Well maybe I could, but who would listen? The world is in disarray. I hope it's a pendulum swing and not a vision for the distant future.

Without going on & on, it seems to me that the whole world has taken a leniency approach to the criminal element. And I just do not understand why ?

My approach? Let's go after the criminals hammer & tong , and show more compassion toward the victims .

England may have gone through an enormous change since I was last there, about 10 years ago. I did spend a few days in London, but my visit was mainly to Cornwall. Most of the locals I met there were very Cornish (if that's the right word), and I don't remember encountering any foreign-looking or speaking people. Of course, London was more of a mixture, as all large cities are. But the numbers you are quoting are incredible, and make me worry for England, which I have always loved.

Maybe John Lennon got his wish after all:
Image there's no countries
It isn't hard to do...

It's not just England Sunny... and incidentally the numbers quoted from wikipedia are wayyy too low ...

There are many immigrants now in Cornwall...they land there by boat

I think the issue should not be considered 'far right' or even 'right', it seems like it would be concerning not only for indigenous UK'ers, but also for any of the refugees who wanted to get away from high-control / anti-women / anti-western values cultures.

This video shows the crowd size (supposedly, who knows nowadays with AI etc).

No this was the real turnout !

I have to say 110,000 is a completely BS number. Aerial photos showed the Union Jack toting crowds stretching as far as the eye can see. There must have been at least a quarter million there, and probably more. Government and media are complicit in keeping the reported numbers down.

Yes! I thought it was only the U.S. news media that downplayed numbers like this (i.e., when it suits their agenda).

yes this is the problem tho'.... the gvt have stamped down on people rising up and protesting by taking away their right to free seech. Imprisoning people for typing hurty words on the internet,..

Even if not imprisoned people are charged with a non-crime hate incident (NCHI) to the tune of "a quarter of a million NCHIs have been recorded since 2014 in England and Wales alone – an average of more than 65 a day" and they're recorded in a national database.

One woman was held in a cell for 36 hours after retweeting a post that misidentified the Southport killer as an asylum seeker with the caveat of "if this is true." She deleted the tweet within an hour but police still took her in (in a van for prisoners accompanied by two other police vehicles and six officers total) stating that to use "asylum seeker" was racist. She was released on a "no further action" ruling.

Umm, I'd just like to say that the people who went to the "Unite The Kingdom" rally in London last Saturday were not 'far right' as you say, but ordinary people like yourself. Many older ones in wheelchairs, and many families. They all had a good time, despite the inclement weather and all came away saying how they'd enjoyed the day. However, there was a counter demonstration of several thousand 'anti racist' activists, who tried to infiltrate the rally in order to cause touble. The police managed to keep the two separate, but in the process 25 arrests were made and (according to the police) 26 officers were 'injured' (whatever that means). Sadly, the main stream media tried to demean the whole thing by saying that only 110,000 had turned up (blatant lie!) and that there'd been trouble from clashes with the police. The truth was very different I can assure you.
A typical example of how economic powers with agendas use their media puppets to manipulate citizens.

Question for hollydolly

Is selecting #2 when dialing a business an option?

For example here in Las Vegas you can select #2 if you want a person that speaks Spanish to answer what you might want to know.
