Thanksgiving in America - November 27th

Just the other day I was out considering Cornish Hen and looking for the twin packs the store usually carries. Instead they had these tiny birds wrapped in plastic so small I became suspicious. So small and odd shaped I was thinking Pigeon or even Bat.....I got away from that 😄🏃
 
Ohhhhh gook, this is making an appearance at our Thanksgiving table once again.
I really hoped that since the divorce happened that she took custody of this too.
But nooooooo, it lives on. I will sit last so I can place myself as far as possible away...discreetly.

I don't know how this disgusting dish ever came to be considered a "traditional" Thanksgiving side. I don't remember anyone in my family serving it for the holiday. I think it came out in the 1960s around the time Chex party mix made its debut.

I always thought it was made up for the holiday movie comedies.
 
I cooked a big Thanksgiving dinner for many people since I was 25. My mom used to make all the side dishes and desserts, which was great. She was an excellent cook.

Now it’s only myself, my oldest son and my daughter-in-law so we go out for lunch on Thanksgiving. This will be our third year and I’m so glad not to have to cook.

Eating out on the holiday is usually very expensive and crowded but luckily we found a small casino that has a restaurant where the food is excellent And the price is very reasonable.

The restaurant does not allow children which is another plus. They don’t take reservations, but we get there about 11 AM and typically only have to wait about a half hour to be seated. Many people have no idea about this place and hopefully it stays that way.
 
Our favorite restaurant years ago decided to have a Thanksgiving dinner twice. It was when they were in their smaller restaurant & was done by reservation. They did it buffet style with the excellent sides & I loved it because I didn't have to cook. The owner planned it that you could even take home some leftovers. The waitresses threatened mutiny if did it again, LOL. It was a nice break. Since we knew & liked those waitresses, we were glad they didn't mutiny & leave.
