What's for dinner ( or lunch )

After a very long, busy, exhausting day, all I did was pop a Jimmy Dean "breakfast bowl" (eggs, etc.) in the microwave, and had a strawberry-cranberry juice afterward. 😁

at least you're eating, so hopefully you'll be better soon
In my case it's toothache that's the problem. The rest of the family all have some nasty lurgy that's laid them all low, with general flu like symptoms for one child, and a nasty cough and throat for my wife and the other child.

Luckily the dentist was open today, so I went to see him and he's given me a prescription for antibiotics. The trouble is that if I take them I can't drink so I'm surviving on painkillers today, and I'll start on the antibiotics tomorrow. 😋 👍

well I've had 2 dinners tonight....

The neighbours brought around a new years eve dinner for me... this...

2 types of ham, one boiled, and one spiced... brussels, baby potatoes, runner beans , mashed buttery spuds and onions , broccoli cheese

Clearly I couldn't eat it because I already had dinner.. so I did try a taste of the runner beans and they are delicious... but I've had to put the dinner away , in the fridge for tomorrow.

Neighbour asked if I;d be going to bed early ,because she's got cake to bring around.. I told a white lie and said I would be..so she said she'd bring it tomorrow instead lol...

This is my new years day gift from my neighbours.... Huge slices of home-made cake

One is orange mousse , with Strawberries, Pineapple, Raspberries, and Orange with sponge fingers ...the other is a Brioche base, with Chocolate and crushed walnuts

After the long rowdy New Years Eve where I didn't retire till 3am then woke up at 7:30am, rainy showers outdoors, a can of Progresso cream of chicken noodle soup I'm now enjoying while typing, is about the perfect light New Year's Day recovery lunch. Later on this 2026 holiday afternoon, more of those frozen cream pies will need to be attacked.

I baked a spiral ham (on sale at Aldi) a large mac and cheese with crumb topping (also cheap) and nuked a big bag of frozen broccoli florets and it is enough to include the renters both yesterday and today. Will be making lentil soup with the ham trimmings in a day ot two.

I hope this isn't as boring as I fear.

I swear I am drooling as I read that. @hollydolly - how does one go about finding such generous neighbours such as the bringing food ones? What a beautiful thing they are doing in showing you how much they care about you. I’m going to start praying to the food gods.
