Who all had had the Shingles vaccine?

Thanks for the reminder, it's on my to-do list.
I had shingles in my late twenties, it wasn't nice but I'm sure it could have been worse.
Wifey got her first jab recently and felt pretty ordinary for a few days.

I got shingles a couple times and it was so minor that I didn’t bother with the vaccine. Then a year or so later, It came back….and it was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced! I have a high pain tolerance (e.g.5 kids home births no drugs) but that shingles pain literally brought me to my knees a couple times!

My doc prescribed Valtrex to help with the pain and duration, and strongly encouraged me to get the Shingles vaccine after I had recovered.

I did, the two shot series of Shingrix. Slightly painful, but worth it to not get Shingles again!

I had it also as I had begun to have some vague rash I attributed to may have been shingles beginning a few months
prior to Shingrex coming out free. The shot is a strong impact but it just lasts the blink of an eye. Sore arm for a day or so.
But no more rash has appeared since I had it. That itching of that rash lasts for days and weeks. I won't regret getting it.

This is true. So back when I had my last Shingles vaccine the pharmacist shared with me the following.

Said that exactly two weeks after he’d received his Shingles vaccine and the very last one, that he came down with Shingles
and it was a bad case as he described it.

I asked him how that could have happened
and why.

He explained the shingles was likely already
In motion at that time not beknownst to him,
and that the vaccine was unable to stop it
In it’s tracks.

I had the old type of shingles shot several years ago, and in spite of it I got a mild case of shingles (luckily just on a leg) which was painful but not horridly so. After I got over that I got the two dose shingrix shots even though I had to pay a couple hundred dollars for each.

When we got COVID shots my coworkers and I were all complaining about how miserable they made us, but then later on when I got the shingrix shots I changed my opinion, the COVID shots were nothing compared to how bad the shingrix shots made me feel (but still worth it).

I have always chosen not to get vaccinations because I'm rarely sick. I did get 2 COVID shots because the pandemic was so frightening. Our health department is giving free flu shots and a limited number of free shingles shots at the electric dept main office on Tuesday. I am thinking about going to get a shingles shot. I don't know if what I remember having as a child was chicken pox or measles though.

I'm glad for all of the comments here that I've read. I haven't made up my mind yet.

The 2nd COVID shot put me down in bed for a day. Though I wasn't in pain, I couldn't get up. Was lethargic and tired. Needle site was very sore too. After that I refused to take a 3rd COVID shot. Never wanted to take the flu shot. The thought of an injection giving me the flu to prevent it was just too repulsive to me.

I decided to get it and did this morning. I arrived about an hour early because I knew the # of shingles shots were limited. I was shocked that they only had 20. I was thankful to be the first one to get mine. They did say that they would be at the Senior Day for the next few months. Needle spot a little sore and slightly swollen. Nine hours later and I don't feel anything strange. We'll see tomorrow morning. 🙏🏽🤞🏽I have to get a 2nd one in 2-6 mos.

almost everybody of our age has had Chicken pox in childhood - even if very mild or no symptoms, the virus is still in your system and can later re- activate as shingles
Not only our age group, but younger people when chicken pox vaccines weren't available. My kids range from Gen X to Millenial, and the youngest seemed to have contracted it at school and brought it home to older sibling.

I haven't had shingles vaccine, developed shingles around a year and a half ago. No big deal. Can't say it'd be so easy if it happens again, though.

I got it in 2024. My mother and father both had shingles in their pld age and the year before last my wife came down with it too. Don't want that one!

My mom got shingles across her middle to upper back. I helped her by putting cream on the rash. A friend out of state got it and she suffered really badly. The doctor prescriptions helped some. Her frequent descriptions bemoaning her suffering frightened me. 😄 TV spots tell how terrible it is to get it. The possibility of getting it has been bothering me for a couple of years now. I heard about this Senior Day event on the news. I am so thankful that I did not procrastinate and that I got up early, got out and got it. How often do we pass on good opportunities because we just don't feel like doing it?
