That describes our experience as well.I had the original single shot vaccine and the two shot vaccine, no issues and no cost to me under my Medicare Advantage Plan.
I don't blame your wife. I wouldn't either. I hope she never gets the shingles
I don't know if what I remember having as a child was chicken pox or measles though.
I asked my GP to be vaccinated because I knew that I had had chicken pox as a child. No problems at all and I cannot remember whether it was one or two shots at the time. I should look it up on My Medicare to see what else I have received.it is free for everyone 65 and over in Australia as well as some younger people in high risk groups
Not only our age group, but younger people when chicken pox vaccines weren't available. My kids range from Gen X to Millenial, and the youngest seemed to have contracted it at school and brought it home to older sibling.almost everybody of our age has had Chicken pox in childhood - even if very mild or no symptoms, the virus is still in your system and can later re- activate as shingles
I got it in 2024. My mother and father both had shingles in their pld age and the year before last my wife came down with it too. Don't want that one!
