Do you nap more these days?

Yes, I like to take a nap after lunch. I sleep between 1-2 hours. (It is getting longer now) I never did when I was younger but now, I cannot sleep more than 5-6 hours a night so I am tired mid-day.
I remembered reading that we will sleep more and more as we are approaching our death. I am starting to panic!😉

I've seen "experts" on sleep who've said that if you spend a little time outside in the sun in the morning it helps adjust your body clock to help you sleep better at night. I try to spend at least 5 minutes in the sun in the morning.

My naps on the couch are just dozing off for a few minutes with my head on my arm. It usually refreshes me for the rest of the day. I didn't have one today and Hubs asked me at about 7:30 if I was going to make it through the TV show. :ROFLMAO:

I typically sleep 8-9 hours per night. I go to the gym 5 days a week. That hasn't chanced for the past 6 years. A couple of years ago I never took afternoon naps. Now I find that at around 3:30pm when I'm on the couch and watching TV I drift off. Sometimes the cats are on my lap and they just look startled when I snore and wake myself up!

Anyone else finding naps are more frequent these days?

Actually quite the opposite. When I taught school, sleep was problematic and a six hour night was pretty much acceptable, but I napped just as soon as I got home - often for just 15-20 minutes. Now I sleep 8.5 to 9.5 or more nearly every night and never nap. I probably could but why mess up my next good night’s sleep?

Rossana, do you mean that we will generally sleep more as we age? Or sleep more as we actually approach our death? I believe I read that we sleep less as we age.

After having worked night shift for over 30 years, I am used to being up at all hours. I rarely sleep over 4 hours straight without having to go to the bathroom. After that, I have a hard time getting back to sleep. Because of that, after finally getting back to sleep, I wake up tired in the morning. I will stir around for a while then take an afternoon nap. When I wake up from my nap, I'm full of vim and vigor and ready to go until who knows how long.

At this point getting 8 hours of sleep seems like a pip dream. My cardiologist would like me to, but I can't see it happening. A few years ago 5 or 6 hours seemed to work for me, but now much of my sleep comes in the form of naps. After I got COVID again in February of this year, it seems like I'm napping more and for more hours at a time. Maybe it's just residual tiredness from having such erratic sleep patterns.

I'm a terrible napper (always have been) -- tend to over sleep and get one of those nap hangovers most of the time.

I don't nap more than I used to - but I do close my eyes while I'm sitting up more than I used to. I remember my Grandma doing that, and me asking if she was asleep. She would say, No dear - just resting my eyes.

I rest my eyes more now days. 🤣
