The first political thing I did was write a letter to my U.S. Senator, after Nixon's "Saturday Night Massacre". I put bumper stickers on my cars. And while I'm not a Fat Cat, I hope they put my $25 to good use. (BTW, I stopped putting on bumper stickers. I don't like being preached to, and stickers are kind of the same thing.)
So, are you getting more or less political?

Less also, and never liked bumper stickers either...besides making you a target....they're tacky.

I probably offended a few people with that remark but it's true. :)
 
I figured that if I put a bumper sticker on my convertible, that some small minded ijit would feel compelled to knife it.
 
I've become more vigilant about the words and actions of politicians who talk about messing with Medicare, Social Security, and healthcare in general (since any changes there mess with Medicare supplement insurance).
 
Since retirement I have more opportunity to listen to parliamentary broadcasts and I am much more aware of the activities of various members of parliament. I can recognise most of them by voice alone.

I became an activist over the issue of asylum seekers. Australia has a shameful record when it comes to our treatment of asylum seekers, including little children. Because of this issue I have attended a couple of rallies and written letters to politicians.

I am not wedded to any particular party although SF posters will know that my principles fit more comfortably with left wing politics. However, both sides of mainstream Australian politics have left me feeling down on this issue.

As long as I have a vote to confer, I will continue to pay attention to politics.
 
A little more, also because I have more free time now. But (I think) I've learned over the years what to look for, and what to ignore as just the usual posturing, so in some ways it takes less time, and is sure a lot less upsetting.

I'm not sure if you mean getting more or less political since we reached voting age, or since the 2016 election, or since the banning of the political forum...or other. If I say anything, my explanation would venture into the political arena so I best say nothing...

I have my political views, and I'm no more or less political than whenever, it's just that such discussion is rather pointless, considering the polarization in the public conversation.
 
I've never really cared about talking on Political issues. My Husband in his 40yr career worked with Politicians from both sides and believe me they are all alike. They are only interested in what benefits themselves and their cronies. I wish people could express their opinion without getting attacked for their views, but that will never happen. So I would say I am less interested.
 
I'm more interested in politics, now that I'm retired. I'm getting fed up with these "bought and paid for" politicians doing things that will mess up the lives of my kids, grandkids, and beyond. I take every opportunity to attend the increasingly rare meetings my politicians have with the voters...and have no problems standing up and telling them what I think....which is probably a waste of breath.
 
I don't like how money has influenced elections. You expect that for Presidential races. But now, there are professionally done, huge number of signs for my Township Board Of Directors. That's not a job hundreds of people are lining up to do. I give money ( $25).
 
I think the whole country is more political today. You can't go a day watching any news, without political stories taking up most of it. It goes on all day on CNN, MSNBC and FOX NEWS.

And everyone is angry at the other side. The right considers the left "liberal scum", and the left labels the right "fascist cons".

And this is promoted by Russian propaganda, pitting America against itself.

By banning political discussions, the Russians have won the cold war.

I made a big one that said, "Elephants and jackasses are just dumb animals." It took me a while to figure out why people would pass me and give me the thumbs up.
 
I've always had a strong interest in politics. My first vote was for Dwight Eisenhower's 2nd term since voting age was 21 then. I grew up listening to my Grandfather who loved it and I was usually the only one around who would listen. I listened - not because I loved politics (he died when I was 12) but because I loved the sound of his voice.

More or less? More as I age. It seems more important to me as I worry about my great grandchildren's future. Never any bumper stickers or yard signs.
