Does anyone else find themselves up late / later @ night ? Such as I am now ?

It just has a different 'feel' , quiet , peaceful ...sometimes I just spend time here, on the computer. Or maybe doing laundry , or just listening to talk radio....sometimes music 'to match my mood' ....:).....I'm enjoying a Crown Vanilla & a soft pretzel.....yeah I know I should pass on the pretzel...but damn it's good.

Anyway, I do it @ times, just curious about others................

I'm never up late, when you see me online at this hour it means that I'm up early!

The early to bed early to rise routine is a holdover from my working years.

I do it most nights. I do laundry too, play games on computer. I mentioned it to my doc one time and he said not a problem as I sleep 3-4 hours and then get up. I have my vanilla Crown usually before bedtime with an English muffin sometimes. I will stay up awhile and then sleep for a few more hours. Works for me as I live alone and don't have to worry keeping someone else up. By the way I saw in the liquor store before Christmas a honey Crown but they were out of the small bottles to try so will look for the next time I am in there. It does have a peaceful time I enjoy that I don't have during the day.:)

.

I'm also a night owl.

Now that I'm retired sometimes I don't go to sleep until about the same time I used to have to wake up to get ready for work !!

3:45a.m. here. Been having sleep issues for about 7 months. It's getting better but still often only get 4-5 hours sleep. I usually either read or watch some tv or get on here. I'll probably go to bed about 6:00 or 7:00 and get another two hours sleep. Nice to see I have good company. :)

I'm a night-owl who is a lot more excited about being alive and awake at night.
Sleep, who needs sleep.

It's only 20.25 (Wed 7th) over here so I am glad that some of you are still awake. I will not go to bed now for at least another 5 hours so I am another night owl from a different time zone. I nap in the afternoons if I need catch up sleep.

So our collective habits are all over the map [as they say] :) Sometimes I go the opposite...11pm bed...up early 7am...I usually do sleep a solid eight , no matter which hours they are. Before arthritis I used to even walk late at night. It is just a peaceful time. Granted I live in a small [usually quiet] village / small town.

To the lady that likes Crown...the next one I want to try is Maple , just haven't yet. For some reason the Apple doesn't even sound appealing ? Haven't seen the Honey around here yet..I'll keep an eye out for it.

One of the reasons for filling out your profile info and giving some location data is so when you make reference to weather, or "quiet village" we know what you are talking about. Just sayin....

If I can't sleep - I go into the living room to hit the recliner. It IS a different feeling . It's totally dark, but the street lights shine through a window which gives the living room a whole different look. I have my favorite lumpy pillow that I use and a soft warm quilt that I just snuggle into . It's so still (no dog and no husband) and sometimes when a car goes by , the headlights reflect off the wall and it just looks other-worldly . It's my own little escape :)

Lots of people sleep in a recliner for health reasons... the sleeping position helps relieve back pain and acid reflux.

I probably sleep as much or even more in my chair as i do my bed. It is easier on my back / hips / knees. As a matter of fact, i have seen ads for 'sleep chairs'...been thinking about looking into one, as my old standard recliner is ...well...old.

When I slept in a bed, many mornings I woke up with a backache.

Then one night years ago, my AC went out and I slept in the den [recliner] because it was cooler.

Then from time to time I would choose the recliner over the bed because I noticed in the recliner I never had a backache or acid reflux.

So more and more I slept in the recliner until now I hardly ever sleep in the bed.

My recliner is also old, so I too will soon be shopping around for a new one that is also good for sleeping... any suggestions ??

Actually yes, google sleeper chairs or sleeping chairs....Many more than I ever thought. Some will even lay completely flat, and are [wider] than normal, so one can turn in their sleep. Some electric [operation]...:) many w/heat, massage, all sorts of options. I found three places near me that sell them...just waiting for better weather & ambition to go look. I need to hurry, my current recliner is now 16 yrs + and I'm not really sure it was the best quality from the start. I bought it at a store closeout , just after moving in here.

BTW...if arthritis is an issue, I'm told after enough paper work, from docs, etc...Medicare & or Ins , might cover some [all] ? of the purchase price. But of course must be prescribed by a Doc.

I'm usually in bed by 11pm and asleep by midnight, if I find myself awake at any time, I have a small portable AM/FM radio I keep under my pillow and will listen to talk shows. I don't make a lot of noise or put lights on, because my husband and furkids are in dreamland, and I don't want to disturb them.
