Pastor's Who Yell Their Sermon

I don’t like listening to a preacher/evangelist yelling about people going to hell (or something similar)either; but it is easy to understand WHY they do it.
Think about when you go to a football game, or some kind of a motivational rally or seminar.
The first thing that happens is usually loud and fast music (Eye of the Tiger ?), and then they have the whole crowd yelling and hollering.
Whether it is a church revival, a high school football game, or an Amway rally, the whole idea is to get people excited and emotionally involved, and yelling and jumping around is one of the best ways to achieve that.

When I worked at a hospital as a Guest Services Specialist, I found that people from India were all soft spoken and, with some, I had to lean in and pay close attention to hear what they were saying. Very effective for holding my attention I thought.

They were polite, patient, and friendly too.

Not to change my Thread, but apparently none of you ladies had ever served in the military, right? IOW, never went to Army or Marine Corp Boot Camp. I definitely got yelled at (face to face—nose to nose) in Boot Camp in the Navy.

You also never worked in a loud environment, like around forklifts or CNC machinery where people had to yell to be heard.

Nothing's noisier than a houseful of screaming kids in my opinion and women face this for years of their lives, willingly. You're not entirely correct in thinking women avoid noisy environments.

It's the Bible Scriptures preached that teaches--yelling them deafens learning. You wanna keep the congregation listening/learning God's Word, let the congregation see and hear that you are speaking from scriptures in the Holy Bible that you have right before you on your podium.
I sought for years a Church whose Bible teachings taught what struck me as coming from God's Word, but it was that all seemed to stress, 'We' have the correct interpretation of Bible Scriptures that did it for me. No more Church searching. My 'teachers' are Rev. Charles Stanley and Joyce Meyer and......one other whose name I can't think of right now. A thought: How can a congregation hear all of what a preacher is trying to teach them from God's Word when they stand up, move about and shout Hallelujah, etc. ? No wonder in those situations, the preacher has to yell.....

Oh yeah, the first time I watched/listened to Joyce Meyer, I was shocked by her wearing glossy earrings and what looked like expensive clothing. But as I kept listening to her Holy Bible teachings, what she wore didn't matter, for she was so on target teaching about life with Lord Jesus as our guide.

I question the link between having been abusively yelled at or spending time in a extremely loud environment to being okay with being yelled at in church.

Remember Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker? Sheesh, what a sideshow.

My wife is the same way, Keesha. Her jobs have pretty much always been in very quiet office environments.

She is basically a pretty quiet type person, unless she has had a few drinks, then she is pretty talkative. Listening to a loud Pastor, on a laptop, must be very different than in person. Seriously doubt she could handle him in person and I couldn’t either.
And, I am basically a loud and talkative person and my wife is really use to me after 18 years of my voice. When I too quiet, she doesn’t like it.

He sounds like he is really, really forcing his beliefs onto the congregation, but they still applaud him.

I don’t think he said he was ok with it.

His quote : He sounds like he is really, really forcing his beliefs onto the congregation and they applaud him.” End quote.

I took that to mean he doesn’t understand why he’s yelling at these followers and they are gobbling it up gleefully.

Yes, that was my understanding of his explanation of why yelling is okay for people who are okay with it, if not for himself. I don't know how else to interpret it.

Oh man, I didn't want to think anything wrong with Tammy wearing all that goop on her face, but why did she feel the need? I listened to their show once in awhile but I couldn't take to heart what they "taught". After their disgrace as preachers, etc. a friend of mine felt disgusted that he had donated money to them, but as far as I was concerned, he had donated from his heart to help spread God's Word, so even though it didn't go that way, God knew the reason for his donation, and so God blessed his giving.

To me they are for the majority all scam artists and I genuinely detest them. Billy Graham was the only person I could tolerate. I truly believe he was genuine. All those hair sprayed women and men with gobs of makeup singing "praise Jesus and pass the plate" should be put in cages. We learned alot about those Sunday Slimeballs after the fall of Jim & Tammy Baker.

Does anyone remember TV evangelist Jimmy Swaggart , back in the late 80's - 90's and his quivering chin, as he confessed his "sins" with his prostitutes? These evangelical preachers are not all bad but there are too many phonies amongst them IMHO, and they tend to make the whole brand suspect, unless you've been overcome by their charm.

He is still on the air. So is Jim Baker.
