AFAIK, the weapon use in the shooting was not an "assault rifle".
Bowers was armed with an AR-15 assault rifle and three handguns and used all four in the attack.
Flay the jerk ! 10 lashes......100 lashes.......whatever it takes. Just like the pirates did.
Yeah, crazy folks in other, more stringent, countries just use bombs
you don't want to go here

It would be more courteous if you asked, Warrigal. Gary said nothing inflammatory.
Nothing brings you around quite like discord here and crime in the US does it?
An AR15 is a semi-automatic. I was probably mistaken in calling it an assault weapon, but really, how much difference does any of that make? 11 innocent souls are dead, for no reason.
Sorry Gary but I think you need to justify a sweeping statement like that one.
I can't remember any bombings in Australia for decades.
There was one 40 years ago in a garbage bin outside the Hilton in Sydney.
I can remember several in US that are much more recent.
The second amendment is no guarantee of a bomb free society.
I wholeheartedly agreeAnnie is correct in that it does not meet the technical definition of an assault rifle because it can not be fired on full auto. The only difference being the sear.
However it, and similar rifles, are the weapon of choice of mass shooters and I can not see any legitimate civilian use of them. In fact if I wanted to go into some public place and kill as many people as possible and I had a rifle capable of full auto fire I would not use it that way. I'd put it on semi-auto so as to be more accurate and not waste ammo. Therefore even though I am a gun owner I would have no problem with that particular genre of weapon banned for civilian use.

Qft. Much of this applies to Canada also, and I’m confident neither you or I get our jollies from watching Americans endure such horrors as the Synagogue deaths. To disagree is not to be automatically antiAmerlcan.I do not think my tone when speaking to Gary was discourteous.
If Gary thought so, I am sure he can speak for himself and I will be happy to apologise to him personally.
Sweeping statements are problematic in that they impugn generally and I felt the need to defend my country, since it is considered that we have more stringent firearms laws than many.
My point is that stringent laws about firearms do not necessarily result in more bombings.
Countries that control dangerous weapons also tend to control access to explosives and have registers for the bulk purchase of chemicals like fertiliser that can be used for making bombs. At least, that is the case in my country.
It would have been more courteous on your part if you had refrained from your parting snarky remark.
Absolutely. Yet, I am also nearly brought to tears when such things happen, and people of disparate faiths come together at synagogues, and form rings of peace, in order that worshippers can feel safe enough to pray. In Canada, after this horror, I saw pics of Muslim children standing arms linked with people of other faiths, outside Canadian Synagogues. After the tragic mosque incident here in 2016, Jews were largely represented in the peace rings outside mosques. This is SO heinous! What an evil man. I'm Muslim and this story nearly brought me to tears. That people, no matter their religion, cannot even be safe in their houses of worship is appalling! It could be any group, anywhere. Sadly, copy cat killings, by like minded hate mongers will more than likely happen.
