We're good ...... I truly was surprised [as such i questioned] that a 10 yr/old's system organs would for sure be that developed ? IMO it is rare ?

I seem to remember being taught way back that it was more around 12-13 .

I did read this morning that it can be as early as nine. But it is not set in stone.

I think, though I'm probably wrong, that all the hormones in our food & water supply have something to do with it. Also, young girls seem less flat chested than when we were young. I've heard 9 is when many girls start menstruating. UGH, poor girls! Wonder if they will go into menopause sooner than my generation.

I agree ..... in that our modern food & water are effecting us in many ways [opinion here] never before known.

I think the important issue is not the age when some girls start menstruating, but forcing a traumatized, obviously raped young girl to leave her home to be taken to another state to have what must be a very frightening medical procedure. What if the girl was 11? 12? I think the focus on her very young age is misplaced. So she developed sexually at a younger age than average. So what?

This is a thorn in the side of the anti-abortion crowd. Their first reaction was to deny the story, since it made them uncomfortable. What would they want to see happen in this case? Force the child to have a baby, which would rip her apart internally and, if she survived, probably ruin her life forever? Who knows what emotional damage she has suffered already?

This is what happens when people start imposing their religious beliefs on other people. Any civilized country should allow abortion (within reasonable guidelines, not in the ninth month) when it is wanted/needed, near the mother's place of residence. This child was pregnant only 6 weeks plus a few days. This requirement to cross state lines is just insane.

Since the rapist has confessed and is arrested, it's probably just a matter of time before somebody "leaks" the name of his victim. But I hope that doesn't happen.

If you are referencing my mention of her young age ? I was not meaning that it applied to the crime ... or the trauma the child went through, and [sadly] will continue to go through . I only mentioned it due to the fact that to my surprise a 10 yr/old female could actually become pregnant .

..further to this story... the mother ergo the girlfriend of the alleged abuser.. despite his confession, is denying he did anything wrong.. saying he didn't attack the child... even tho' he has confessed to it..

It would seem from what I've read that she has little time for her daughter, and far more for the boyfriend.. when asked how he daughter was she snapped.. ''She's fine'' ..she seemed more concerned about the feeling of the BF...

Awhile back, I read Planned Parenthood provides abortions to 'women' as young as 9.

Just keep in mind .... it takes two [a man & a woman] to enjoy recreational sex . So depriving one the ability , deprives both. And I have been around long enough I can say that some women enjoy recreational sex just as much as any man.

Are you suggesting vibrators for all women , and then they can send their man packing ?

my mother was 10 years old also.. by 30 years old she had to have a hysterectomy

Poor kid doesn't stand a chance, well hardly any, with a mother like that. I'd think the child should go into foster care, except that can be even worse. Mother doesn't deserve custody, and I think I read she has other children.

there are many very good foster carers, and I'm sure that in this particualr instance, if it's deemed necessary, they will find that child the best... I believe she needs to be away from that mother

I've read too many times about mothers who react that way! I makes me so angry! Who protects those children. If your mom won't protect you then who??!! Disgusting.
