2024 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

I've just been out tying everything down that I can.. and pulling the furniture away from anywhere that it might do damage if it gets blown away.. (heavy furniture)... took all the plants pots down from the trellises in case the weight of them pulls the trellis down... but this is like a twister.. the last time I felt a force as strong as this was in Spain when my roof got blown off... I've got to say I'm not optimistic here about my 200 feet of 6 foot fencing... I can hear police and fire engine sirens in the distance... very scary....
Thinking of you. Do what you must to stay safe. 🤗

An hour ago a weather guy on the evening news on our west-coast CBC channel said that our part of Canada experienced the third warmest December since 1896. And the pattern of the last 10 days or so has persisted into these first couple days of 2024. It's supposed to be this way, mostly above freezing in each 24-hour day, for another three of four days.

We will welcome the snow when it comes. Gives us an improved chance of fewer wildfires next summer.

Rain on and off. Supposed to get some decent snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains. They did the snow pack check and it's 30% of normal. Last year this time it was at 170%. I want last year every year.

My maximum and minimum for indoor and outdoor temps for 2023:

I though moving the min/max thermometer from the east side to the north side of the house would moderate the outdoor reading. Looks like it didn't. I don't remember it being 110F here, but if the sun shone directly on the thermometer, it may have affected it. Being this far north, there's hardly any place that doesn't get direct sun in the summer.

We had rain last night too, forecast for warmer temperatures for several days, I can turn off the heat lamps on my patio plants.

Back to being overcast, but no precip. Seasonably cool. Forecast predicts "something" on Sunday. Church secretary already sent out emails to warn members that the service may be cancelled. Depends on what, when and how much.

Don't suppose anyone would be surprised to learn it's absolutely torrential rain here ...again.. !! Just unbelievable.. so many places around the south are flooded...:(

Calm before the storm? Clear and coldish. But better than a Nor'easter which is what we're supposed to get this weekend.

I love the winters in Reno because it snows in the mountains and I can see it but in the valley we usually don’t get much. In 27 years we have had 5 real winters. My sweater is my winter coat and so far this year we haven’t had any snow. Last year sucked although being in a drought we needed the precipitation.
