1" snow overnight, no wind, 28 degrees but might get to 40-southern tier NY
The coldest temp in NY ever recorded was minus 52 in Feb 1979.
We also had a wind day chill of minus 40 in 1989 and I was out in it, I had livestock to feed and also we were trying to cover a hay stack with a tarp- not a good idea.
One morning ,in 1990 I believe, the local farmers said it was close to 50 below, and our water froze up- but I knew where that freeze was- on my hose connectors.
Since I was used to the cold, I had to bring the hair dryer outside ,plug it in, and open the water area and within a few minutes, the water came back on, and since then I always insulate those connectors well and of course I have a heat tape on the pipes.
The sun had just come up and it started to snow a little- and it was Beautiful, and the small snow flakes looked like crystals with small rainbows.
There was no wind chill at all, and my only fear was that my farm boots would freeze to the ground.
I had to carry hot water to the barn, to unfreeze the water pans for the animals, but the sun began to warm things up.Our heater stayed on all day.
( about 20 plus years ago there was a house fire near me.
My daughter was home on leave from USAF and she also was a volunteer junior fireman before joining the Military.. We made pots of hot coffee for hours, for the fire men and also brought them fresh water. They were using water drawn from a local pond. No hydrants up here.
Our Fire Chief's gear was so wet that he froze to the seat in our pumper, and much of the hose water turned to ice immediately.)
