Monday and Tuesday we were close to 70 and today was 59. Starting tomorrow winter is back. The dogs and I took a long walk each day.

It was a sunny morning today. Now, at 2:45 pm the skies are gray and getting lower. Expecting rain tonight and for the next 3 to 5 days depending on which weather app you follow. All this year the weathermen have been wildly undependable in their predictions. Thus substantial variations between predictions and outcomes all winter long. I love rainy days in my location. Because following them we've long periods of warm and sunny days. Of course gardens fill up with weeds, but that will have to wait for spring to deal with.

GOES-West - Sector view: U.S. Pacific Coast - Band 10 - NOAA / NESDIS / STAR

For this giant AR storm making national news, at Saturday 5:30 pm PST weather map forecasts show the edge of stratonimbus cloud rain per above at Santa Clara County starting about 8pm with the cold core low then about 150 miles west of the San Francisco Bay Area. It will then slowly move north along our coast and as it does be with 75 miles of San Francisco. Gray and white areas are clouds without precipitation.

Its comma shaped band of precipitation trailing off to the southwest with wind towards the north northeast, will continue to rotate east with the high precipitation inner north edge cloud reaching the San Mateo County coast by 9am Sunday per image above with the heavy yellow and red areas remaining over our area until about noon with rain continuing till sunset.

Over the Sierra Nevada 150 to 200 miles west, the peak storm will occur about mid afternoon Sunday but linger much longer into Monday evening with about 4 feet expected at my season pass ski areas. A secondary surface low will form west of Santa Maria that will slowly migrate southeast along coastal waters till southwest of Los Angeles before moving inland and with peak rains over Salton Sea deserts about 6pm Tuesday.

Now the view at 9am PST per my above post to see how it actually played out at this 9am PST Sunday time comparing the below to the above satellite images. I'd say the forecast models did quite well over 15 hours.
