“In the northern hemisphere this date falls in December every year. In 2024 the winter solstice will occur on Saturday 21 December.”

Why is this important to those who live in the northern hemisphere? It is the shortest day of the year and the days will start getting longer🤠👍🤠👍

That said, I cannot believe I was sweating in shorts & a tank top at the barn tonight. I was fighting myself to not turn on the barrel fan.

Currently it is 68(F), humidity is 81%, dewpoint is 62 degrees. <—-those are summer numbers. We are 14 degrees (F) above average.

The predicted three inches of rain has not yet happened. I saw maybe a few tenths — maybe. Still-in-all, I will take this weather over freezing temps.

I know there is early, heavy snowfall in areas the left side of the U.S. the weather continues to be off the rails🤯🤯

Winter is here!!!! Early this morning it started to rain/freezing rain but quickly changed to SNOW until noon. Now seems to have stopped. It's 2 C right now and the ground is not yet frozen so the snow is melting. I hate that the days are getting shorter and shorter. Can't wait for December 21st, at lest I know that then the days will start to get longer again! It looks like Christmas outside:)

It is actually raining in Northern California right now. And it's coming down pretty good.

I had a chance to feed the cats this morning. Gave them some extra canned. It was starting to rain but the bushes, trees were still keeping their area dry. It will be wet by now though.

My two are asleep on the bed.

In Berkeley too. My wife went for a blood draw during a lull but after she finished she had to traverse about 100 feet during a downpour with only a raincoat. She can't hold an umbrella and use her walking sticks too. Streets are wet, the creek is fuller and the gutters carry lots of water. Happy to be getting this rain. But in about an hour we have to get going down to Stanford for another of her appointments.

We're enjoying a light, steady rain.

All but one of the little cat shelters me and Paxton built has a cat curled up in it. Last week I built an awning over the place where I put food out for them. Good call. Not sure it'll hold up when it starts getting really windy, but we'll see.
