I don’t see any good with blaming anyone. We elect all of these buffoons from the president and right through Congress. Anyone wants to blame someone, maybe they should start with the us voters. We fall for their soapbox ramblings and rhetoric. Every few years it’s the same thing. We see new faces wanting to be elected because they are really going to change things. But, they never do.

That's right....most people don't do any serious research before they vote. They just get brainwashed by the endless commercials leading up to election time.....OR they just vote for the D or R that appears alongside the candidates name. And then, they wonder why things keep going downhill.

There is a good web-site called "votesmart.org" that tracks the politicians voting record, and performance. I suspect that most people who looked carefully at what their representatives are doing, would be quite disappointed.

Watching PBS news, Taliban leader states 'We will not allow U.S. forces (in our country) after Aug 31.'

Look, we should have not been there-Bin Laden left that's was the man we were after=Right?
He left, our forces expanded.

We were inept in out national intent-there is a lot of that in the last 3 decades.

BUT! I do not like viewing US and Afgans leaving like a bunch of rats fleeing.
We have troops there, These Butt-Holes roaming the streets with their rifles/
Get rid of the armed Taliban folks and get the hell out of the country.
The guys with the long guns are the bad guys. We could never locate them during the war.
There out in the open now. Sooooo.....

This post is irrational, yea, i know that, but dammit- The US should not have to scurry out of Afghan
like a whipped dog.

War with Iran was being seriously considered by the previous administration, but luckily, it was prevented.
I left the Pentagon before Trump took office, however, I did and do keep in touch with friends that I still have working in the departments that I had worked in. In 2019, while attending a to-do in D.C., I spoke with one of the Ambassador’s aides, who was John Bolton at the time. He (the aide) had told me that Trump was doing everything possible to avoid a conflict with Tehran. He did say that Trump decided to put ships in and around the Gulf and also had called some of the diplomatic staff back to home base. This is called posturing in D.C. The president was insisting that Iran follow and stay within the bounds of the nuclear arms deal made in ‘15. This is all that I remember from that conversation.

Foreign countries should stop encouraging Afghans to leave as the country needs their talents, a Taliban spokesman has said. Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghan nationals should head back to their homes, jobs and normal life, as there was “no danger” to them, adding: “Let’s live together." He told a press conference that “war for us has finished", and it did not want any war or fighting. He said Afghans were not allowed to go to Kabul airport, but foreigners could go there.

That would mean starting up the war all over again, and they would just go back into hiding until we left.

But they weren't even in hiding. The previous administration negotiated our withdrawal directly with the Taliban, who set the conditions for our withdrawal. They knew exactly when we were leaving and they prepared for it, which is why the government collapsed so quickly.

We're doing the right thing by getting out. If the remaining people don't like being ruled by the Taliban, they need to revolt.
