Many of us Americans complain about politicians making their office into a lifetime career. At election time, we have a chance to stop it from happening, but it seldom happens when the incumbent loses. When I hear people complain about career politicians, I tell them you have an opportunity to change it, but how many times have you voted against the incumbent? We seem to have fallen into the trap of being a Party voter only. Even if the better candidate is of the opposite Party that we prefer.
I have always been an Independent, which disqualifies me from voting in the primaries, but I have yet to vote a straight ticket.
