Disney just laid off thousands of employees. Other companies are doing the same.

Hollywood became so toxic that people have fled both its products and its crazies who pontificate politically. Union excesses have also done a great deal of damage. It's long past time that entertainment media creation should have been broken up and dispersed away from radical culturally extreme parts of the country anyway.
Little of that is related to "tariffs" or "recession fears" or "inflation" but instead predatory pricing and disgusting policies and practices and products. "Go woke, go broke" as fans and casual consumers both walk away.

Disney entertainment has been laying off employees due to shrinking TV ratings and revenue. Bob Iger acknowledged Disney has been pumping out too many shows and movies in an effort to compete with Netflix.

My grandkids love Disneyland. I've gone at least 20 times over the past 50 years and have no interest in going again.

That and their abysmal movies that nobody wants. This is entirely self-inflicted. They have poisoned everything they have touched. It's so bad that Disney is a laughingstock.

Disney is just the latest in a growing number of companies that have announced layoffs this year.
It feels like the economy is shifting gears. It could be for many reasons including tariffs, AI, changes in consumer spending, etc…
I don’t need to understand it in order for me to do a bit of personal financial restructuring of my own. Pay off debt, hoard cash, and basically get ready for whatever comes next.
There is no downside to strengthening your personal balance sheet.

I was surprised to hear the other day that our local Walmart is laying off. It happened to a friend of mine. We also have a lot of warehouses in our city that are pretty significant employers and it’ll be interesting to see what happens with them.

Actually, this is what I’ve been doing the last four months. I bought anything that I anticipated needing within the next four years and I’m doing as much consulting work as I can and banking as much additional money as possible.
