you should have done what we did and bought our property long before retirement and BrexitI wanted to retire to Tuscany but brexit scuppered that idea.
Yes the Brexit not helping us. I was living in Evia an Island of Greece and that was just before Brexit. Not knowing what will happen to UK citizens after Brexit, and I decided to leave that beautiful Island.you should have done what we did and bought our property long before retirement and Brexit
you want to move to an airport ?Short wish list of English speaking countries I would like to permanently relocate:
1. Antarctica except only scientific research persons are allowed to reside there.
2. England especially in Gatwick.
3. Canada especially in Toronto.
how is it now Post Brexit ?... will you go back ?Yes the Brexit not helping us. I was living in Evia an Island of Greece and that was just before Brexit. Not knowing what will happen to UK citizens after Brexit, and I decided to leave that beautiful Island.
My kids and my grandkids live in Germany. I lived in Germany many years ago. I just returned after visiting my kids and my grandkids.how is it now Post Brexit ?... will you go back ?
it's such a shame. Yesterday a friend in Spain told me that since brexit anything that is sent by post from here garners Taxes.. so a laptop that was sent to him last week is going to cost him 200 euros in fees to release it... absolutely diabolical...My kids and my grandkids live in Germany. They all want me to live in Germany. The regulations they have now for UK citizens is too much.
Post Brexit unless UK joins EU again it will be hard for us to travel or live in EU countries.
That is true.it's such a shame. Yesterday a friend in Spain told me that since brexit anything that is sent by post from here garners Taxes.. so a laptop that was sent to him last week is going to cost him 200 euros in fees to release it... absolutely diabolical...
I would say “wherever I lay my hat, that‘s my home“.As "effed" up as this country is right now...like they say, "there's no place like home". The main reason I wouldn't move, especially at my age, is I'd be too far away from my family. I have an older cousin who is from the states. She moved to Puerto Rico more than 35 years ago with her Puerto Rican husband . She has no qualms about traveling to visit her sons and grandsons (Texas & New Jersey) and another grandson in Germany. I think she's elsewhere more than she is at home. I can't stand the thought of getting on a plane again, let alone flying so often, so I'll stay right here in the states.
New Jersey I was on a training program with Johnson and JohnsonI have to ask.......When you wrote "New Brunswick " was that in the Canadian Province of that name, or in New Jersey ? JimB.
My roommate and I used to visit Rutgers to see if we could meet some guys.New Brunswick, NJ, is the home of Rutgers University (my late husband's alma mater). We lived there for a few years. Not my favorite part of NJ, though maybe it's improved since then. We moved to Morristown, which we liked a lot better.

There's so many different places and ways of living here in England as well... an excellent, fair or poor experience depends on which part of the countrySince I retired 5 years ago, I have revisited England twice, love it there, but there are so many differences in everyday lifestyles I wouldn't be happy. I also have traveled to four different states, checking out apartments and condos, small cities and villages. Nope, can't find a state I would rather live in. So, here I will stay. No other country I have ever been to holds a candle to the US, despite all its flaws.
hahaha.. how would you care ?I enjoyed watching the video, @dseag2!
I have family in Greece, Australia, and the U.S. In my twenties, I visited Greece and Australia, and lived in each country for several months. I did consider moving permanently to each one, but decided not to. I have also visited England, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, etc. No matter which country I visited, I always felt relieved when I came home! Moving to another country where they have had political issues in the past, like Greece, who does not have a kind neighbor (Turkey) would always be nagging me with worry. To visit for vacation is another matter.
The questions I ask myself whenever I feel the urge to move to another country are -
"If there would be a war, which country would I want to be living in?"
"If it's more expensive to live in the country (American dollar vs Euro) how far would my money go?"
"If I were to die in another country, how would I be transported to the cemetery plot that I've already bought?"
