Afghanistan attacked us on our soil. Vietnam never did. Therein lies the difference.I think most Americans today would say no, as I and chic did above. However at the time, in the early years anyway, a majority of us did support going in. Same thing happened in Afghanistan and other places. Seems our hindsight is better than our judgement...
All? then to answer that my dear, you have to look deep within your own soulAll.
An arsonist?Sometimes wars have to be fought. I have seen very few pacifists in my life time and certainly not here! What sort of person is the one who starts a fire and then runs away before the explosion? Certainly not a pacifist!
Why do you laugh chic? You know I speak the truth! All? then to answer that my dear, you have to look deep within your own soul![]()
I'm laughing at looking into my soul. It's so cluttered and confusing in there. Why do you laugh chic? You know I speak the truth!

Of course, and I think we were right to go in after al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. However that was done within the first year.Afghanistan attacked us on our soil. Vietnam never did. Therein lies the difference.

Hmm, we used to âbelongâ to the United Kingdom, England, as did a lot of countries. Should we go to war if England wants their colonies back?Should the west go to war with China if they try to take Taiwan? Some would say yes because they threaten democracy and others will say no, itâs their business because it used to belong to them anyway. The politicians will decide and we must follow.
No, I was not a flower child. I joined the Army during the Vietnam conflict. If allowed, I would have gone and fought. I was raised a patriot. I was raised to realize I owed my country for the freedoms I enjoyed and the sacrifices that were made, by others, for those freedoms.
@Aneeda72, I did the greatest service to my country, which I do love, by not joining the military. Know thyself. No, I was not a flower child. I joined the Army during the Vietnam conflict. I will admit I have a great deal of distain for those that talk the talk but donât walk the walk. There are a great many ways to contribute to the welfare of your country, those that donât should leave. Yes, I am very âhard-linedâ on this.
I can trace our military service back to the war for independence-in my family someone always served and fought. Both sides in the civil war.. Apparently we are a blood thirsty group, but patriotic.

Leave? That's ridiculous. And go where? We'd need globalization and open borders for that. Yeah, I always wanted to choose where I would live, but those damn laws get in the way. There are a great many ways to contribute to the welfare of your country, those that donât should leave. Yes, I am very âhard-linedâ on this.
We had full access to Canada and Mexico until Covid-open borders were everywhere. Lots of people, men especially in the US during the Vietnam conflict fled to Canada to avoid the draft and doing their duty. Good riddance to them! They were later allowed to come backLeave? That's ridiculous. And go where? We'd need globalization and open borders for that. Yeah, I always wanted to choose where I would live, but those damn laws get in the way.
