Are You Exceptionally Likable? 9 Reasons People Decide They Like You

When did you meet my sister???
Ken we have a standing joke around here about loquacious people.

"His doctor made a mistake and inoculated him with a phonograph needle."

For those who are not familiar with phonograph, you might be more familiar with gramophone?

His Masters voice was the logo. A little dog next to a loudspeaker.

I think that criteria is horseshit! Oh my I'm doing an unlikeable thing like criticising! :ROFLMAO: I'm at a point in life where I don't care if I am likeable anymore. I am just me, take it or leave it for all it's worth.:sneaky:

Amen....

Why limit it to likeable? I'm absolutely loveable. Kind, generous, helpful, hardworking, law-abiding, relentlessly cheerful, pleasant, infinitely patient, positive, forgiving, non-judgmental, mentally awake and morally straight...the list goes on.

Why limit it to likeable? I'm absolutely loveable. Kind, {I think so} generous, {some what} helpful, {always}hardworking, {retired} law-abiding,{absolutely} relentlessly cheerful, {no comment} pleasant,{try to be} infinitely patient, {used to be} positive,[for the most part} forgiving,{try to be} non-judgmental, {I fail sometimes}mentally awake {for now} and morally straight {that's a broad brush/but I think so}...the list goes on.

I agree 100% with Ruthanne! 🤪

That's a good thing. People are afraid of police in uniform. How can you be likable when you hand out a ticket?
People should never be afraid of the Police unless they've committed a crime... People shouldn't feel fear that a police officer will harm them if they're innocent of any crime.

Yanno, when I think about it, I'm a paragon of virtue. As we know, virtue is its own reward. In other words, there's no monetary benefit! ;)

OMG! If I chose my friends and they chose me by those nine criteria I would have very friends because we would be a bunch of boring people. No, what determines friendships, really, in just about any close friendships or most relationships, really, is chemistry. My boss of many years (30) for example, from one organization to another told me one time (and only once) that we had chemistry. And he meant that in a working relationship, and believe me, neither of us were perfect, but perfect is really in the mind of the beholder both ways. So, I say If you want a truly friend, forget about some kind of random criteria, but just be happy about how you feel about each and that your relationship lasts through the years.
Thank you Olivia
Have to learn how to use this....lol

It means you might arrest him for something he didn't know he was doing which was wrong or against the law.

Why is driving on the freeway and keeping the speed limit frowned on? Isn't that what you are supposed to do according to the law? I mean if other people want to speed, that's their business but do I have to accommodate them by speeding myself at a speed I'm not comfortable with?
No problem as long as they move over out of the fast lane. LOL!

When I was a youngster and someone got in trouble and the police showed up and they started asking questions and we didn't answer. Even though you weren't guilty you and you know who did it, you would never speak up and live to talk about it.
The comment from the policeman was, "If I take you into the back lane, do you think you would remember?"
Ever since that day.

That doesn't matter. They still come up on your bumper all the way home unless they can find an open spot in the fast lane. But really there is no such thing as the 'fast' lane. The speed limit is posted and that's how fast you are permitted to travel legally.
There was a couple of guys in the Toronto area that decided to test the law.
One guy in the 'fast' lane and the other guy in the 'slow' lane and both doing the posted limit.
A huge lineup of cars behind them and they were stopped and given a ticket to appear in court.
The judge ruled against them stating that emergency vehicles would be impeded.
What a crock. It was because the ticket revenue would be impaired. Even though every once else is speeding, you can get a ticket and that would be no excuse.
My friend had that experience and the policeman told him, you were all speeding but I can only catch one guy at a time. It's the most unfair law I can think of.

1. "They want to know what you know. So they ask questions. They ask for details. "

That depends. Some people think if you do is because you care and are interested in them, others think that you're ''nosy''.

What if you don't need to ask a person questions because you've listened to what they've said and already can guess the answers? Some people are a one way street. Easy to see through.

I must be detestable because I don't measure up to the OP's criteria. IDK. I'm old enough to be satisfied being myself and if others don't like me, that is really their problem. Not mine.

It was always kind of absurd when I would drive on the freeways doing just the speed limit and no one would pass me. I had one fellow tell me that it’s like I was daring anyone to pass me.
I NEVER dare pass a cruiser, I figure he IS daring me. LOL

personally if your a kind person it covers a multitude of things -as you will never need to look for friends '
friends just seem to appear ….

You make some good points. Speeding, at one time, was a high priority with handing out citations. Not so much anymore. Drivers and cars have both become more safer. Back in the day, autos weren't as safe or as predictable as they are now. Same for the drivers. Most police that I have spoken with have upped their allowable limits before citing a driver.

For example, when I retired the speed limit on the PA Turnpike was 70 mph. The Barrack's Sergeant told us what speed to arrest on when we did radar duty. In most cases, we would allow 10 mph over, but when traffic would be lighter, like during the winter, we may allow 15 over. And, even if a driver was over the allowable limit and if the driver had a good record, which we would learn after we entered his license number into our computer, no citations in last 5 years or accidents, we may cut them a break, but only if they treated the Trooper with respect. Drivers need to learn that the police are only doing their job by trying to keep everyone safe. If a driver wants to hammer on a Trooper or any poiceman, then chances are he will be writing a check. Like we always say: "You don't have to like me or agree with what I am telling you, but you do have to respect the uniform."

I have also taken into consideration that the driver's insurance rate would probably go up by me writing a ticket, so that was always a decision that sometimes was hard to make. Just be careful out there. I think Pennsylvania is now using the LIDAR system, instead of the old radar, or at least that's what I have been hearing. We are also using cameras in work zones because we can't cover all that's out there that needs covered. A lot of towns here in PA are disbanding their police department and putting it on the backs of the State Police, so yeah, the PA State Police is busy.
