Are you happy where you live?

Capt. Lightning's thread about that rocky island got me thinking. Are you happy where you live?
I have to say that even while I live out in the sticks, yeah, I'm happy about where I live. But every once in a while, I think of moving back to NYC. There's no way I could afford New York, now. I miss NYC, at times. It does have advantages.
And I thought of moving to Guam. It's just like Hawaii, and just as expensive. So, it's just me & the deer.

I do like where I live. I'm close to everything I need...doctors, markets, shopping centers, gas stations.
My gfriends all live on the other side of town, but we can still drive..so that's a plus.

And, the casinos are just up in the foothills, and the coast is 2 1/2-3 hrs away.

Yes I love my little corner of the world.I have a CVS, Walgreens, Librairy, Fire Station, gas station, fast food and restaurants. There is the neighborhood Walmart, Target, my bank, the senior center and mall with movie theater, more places to eat in and around it. It is all within a half mile or less walk. The only thing I need is a disco but no one else that, so I guess I can get by.

I would rather live in Atlanta, where I have friends and family.

Being here is fine, but the Covid situation has made me much more isolated. My immune system is still not even close to being robust after chemo. I do like being in town, because everything is so close. It takes less than 10 minutes to get across town. To get to the same part of town took me at least 30 minutes from the country. The travel times still amaze me after 1.5 years of living in town. Rush hour traffic is nothing (really), especially compared to that of Boston and Atlanta (there, it is rush hour all the time).

I suppose it's lucky that I lived in the country (pop. in that area was 2,000), and then in this small town. I miss the countryside. I'm moving to Mass, the town has 1,800 people, and there is a lot of nature (forests, etc) around. I think I will like it just fine. I'm looking forward to meeting new people, and to taking part in all the fun things to do in Mass. To me, Mass is the best state regarding tons of stuff to do. I try not to dwell on winter's length and weather.

Do you have your move date nailed down yet? I have never lived in the east but the snow and cold would not bother me. If you are anything like me you will start a large pantry at you cousin's. Also if he has a good freezer space you can have a lot frozen that you will need to get by in the winter. Just set up supplies best you can for the winter. I am so excited for you on your new adventure!!

Disco ?.... as in discotheque ?

There were times over the yrs, I wish I had moved to be closer to my brother&family, our sister lives 'across the pond' in England
I stayed here in our hometown,Buffalo,NY because of my job, a pharm tech at local hospital, never thought I would be there for 27 yrs
I'm happy where I am,living in the same neighborhood where we grew up. Our childhood home is 2 blocks away

I'm happy here. The only place I never wanted to be was growing up in Chicago. It was OK until my late teens when I got tired of concrete. I left. I think I'm usually happy where I am because I don't go to places I don't want to be. This seems to be a good way to solve the problem.

I love living way out in the sticks and would not have it any other way. I hate to even drive to town for groceries, but it gets hungry otherwise.
I'm fortunate, i live rural, but because the village straddles a state highway between large cities we have 3 options for groceries in under 5 minutes by car. The dreaded drive 'to town' is more often for medical appts for eyes, or tests checkups related to sleep apnea and being on a CPAP. While there i may pick up things harder to get out here but our little local owned grocery my store of choice, the other two are chain stores.

Not really. I have lived in this area most of my life and it has gotten way to populated . It has changed from a nice sleepy medium sized town to a noisy major city and I do hope to move someplace more rural someday. However I stay here now because of my dad's condition. There is no way I am going to move out of the area while he is still with us.

Love our little double wide here in Florida. It is our 23rd year here. Our little community is starting to shrink as the greedy developers are putting up 3 story units all around us. We will stay as long as we can take care of each other.
One advantage to this part of NM is there is not much land available to developers. Most is either BLM land or Reservations, so less chance of being swallowed up.
