Are you streaming ( or binge watching ) any series on Netflix, or any other service? Tell us about it.

I watched Untamed last week on Netflix. I enjoyed watching it even though I thought it was a standard "down and out" detective type of plot. It is set in Yellowstone but was actually filled in British Colombia. The scenery is outstanding and I liked the chemistry between the characters. It's only six episodes so it is a quick watch. Despite the standard plot, I would recommend it because of the acting and the beautiful scenery.

l am binge watching LOST, but not on any service other than my own DVD player. Of course l know that LOST was filmed on Oahu and you'd think l'd be excited about that and l was except after l wached a few of the early episodes which then l didn't like so much. After much later l started watching LOST again and not only did l like it, l loved it ! And l missed so many episodes
that l decided to purchase the whole lot and binge watch the entire series. l am enjoying it.

I think I am about the middle of series 5 but am not enthused by it. I think each series has got sillier than the previous one as they add more characters and change the story line. I only watch an episode every couple of weeks but it is so daft I can't stop watching.

Have just started watching, seems OK, enjoying an Aussi and Kiwi trying their Yank accents ;-)

I watched this one too and really enjoyed it.

I too watched "Untamed". It had a name cast, with Eric Bana and Sam Neill. Some of the settings shown in Yosemite Nat'l Park were almost breathtaking. In fact I'd say that was the chief draw in the series.

It's a thriller, but the story was nothing special, although it got more interesting in the last episode or two. I kept feeling that something was missing, or that something was too mediocre. Putting the writing aside, I believe it was Eric Bana's casting. Either he didn't really fit the part, or the way it acted it didn't keep it interesting,

It was refreshing that they didn't need to script gutter language or include deviant sex. Those scripts are getting rarer.

But overall IMO it was very watchable. I'm guessing there will be no thought of a follow-up series, since they killed off one of the main characters.

That's good news, I think. Leanne Morgan is my favorite comedienne. She's a riot in stand-up, but it will be interesting to see if she can have the same effect in a sitcom. Reportedly it premieres on July 31 on Netflix.
My favorite comedienne as well. We have tickets to see her on Sept. 6 at American Airlines Arena. Apparently she is selling out so they added a second show. We'll be attending the 3pm "old folks" show instead of the 7pm one.

I've really been looking for a good mystery and found The Survivors on Netflix.

Two men drown at the beginning of the show and one man survives. He moves away to Sydney but returns to his small town with his girlfriend and their baby. He is confronted for returning because he is blamed for the lives of the other two mean. At the same time the two men drowned, a young woman disappeared. The case hasn't been resolved.

Meanwhile, another young lady's body is found on the beach, which may be connected to the disappearance. There is lots going on, but it so far seems great and it is Australian which makes it even better in my book.

I watched all episodes of that one in two days a while back. I really liked it too. Reflected some very real family and small town dynamics.

Sometimes getting 'into' a series or even movie is a matter of timing and context: Depending on what is going on in our lives and the world at the time. It might be too realistic, or too 'close to home' at a point when we need an escape; or what ever is going on us with/around us is too intense for us to suspend disbelief and get drawn into the story.

But then when things in real life have progressed we decide to try again because something in it appealed to us and now we relate and appreciate it more.

It also happens with books. It took me 3 times to get into A Proper Marriage, and I am so glad I persisted, since Doris Lessing became my most favorite writer and her books have given me countless hours, days, weeks and years of joy.

Oh, yes. I often buy second hand books, both fiction and non-fiction, because they're on a topic i like or by a an author i like. But i don't always read them right way. I have a huge amount of books yet somehow when i get interested or excited about some new aspect of something i stumble across just the book i need right on my own shelves.

Read a lot of Doris Lessing when younger. But these days i read mostly nonfiction. And i often have more then one going at a time because i have to think on one chapter, feel i grasp the concepts and consider how they impact my existing knowledge before i move on.

I envy you, Seadoug. I'd love to see Leanne Morgan live. If you think of it, let us know what you thought of her show.

I believe Lonely Planet is a movie, not a series.
But thanks for the tip re "Amy Bradley". I hadn't head about that documentary miniseries, so will check it out for sure. IMO often a well done documentary is more fascinating than most feature films.

Lost was awesome!

Sawyer had some great lines. This one was my favorite.
