Are you streaming ( or binge watching ) any series on Netflix, or any other service? Tell us about it.

Just finished Season 3 of The White Lotus. I was fascinated by the series, and spent much too much time watching it. But I found the ending a real downer. Don't want to say any more about it. But I wonder if anyone else watched the whole series.

The Thailand scenery is incredibly gorgeous, and probably a good reason to watch this show, even if you don't like the story. But it's well acted and the characters are colorful and diverse enough to be interesting.

Code of Silence (2025)

It’s been a good while since there has been a fresh approach to a police show. The girlboss treatments we’ve been subjected to over the past decade or so have become both hackneyed and long in the tooth, so it is exciting to see an innovative story line that features not a cop, but a deaf woman working in the police station’s canteen who is pressed into service by a Canterbury police squad to help their investigation of a criminal plot by being able to read lips.

The lead is played by award winning deaf actress Rose Ayling-Eliis, who is a delight to watch. Her command of facial expressions, and the use of that ability to show her emotions and what she is thinking would have made her a hit in the silent movie era. Also starring are the veteran Joe Absolom, along with Charlotte Ritchie, Andrew Buchan, and Kieran Moore.

The writing by Catherine Moulton and deft direction by Diarmuld Goggins creates Hitchcockian suspense that is practically unrelenting, and keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. The exciting film score is by Dan Jones.

I’ve only seen the first 3 of 6 episodes, so hopefully the same high quality will continue through to the end. The series has also been green lit for a second season. It’s available in the UK on ITVX, in the U.S. on Britbox, and on various streaming services such as ok.ru/video.

Rating so far: 10/10

It's just a 2-episode series, but Tom Hanks' documentary about Billy Joel is wonderful. Especially if you like Billy Joel's music, but it's a fascinating story anyway. I think it's called Billy Joel: And So It Goes.

Pernille (or Perni) is a Norwegian series on Netflix that I am enjoying a lot. It's a family comedy/drama about a normal, but very busy family in Oslo. You can watch it in Norwegian with English subtitles, or dubbed in English, which is surprisingly good. (I used to hate dubbed movies.)

Interesting to see how a normal, loving family (but with problems) led by a strong, likable mother in her 40's, live their lives. So far, no murder, family hatred, etc., all the stuff that is so popular on series. This is about people that if you lived in Norway, you might actually know.

The Boy in the Balloon - true story. Wacky parents. (documentary)
Lonely Planet - love story set in Morocco (movie)
Amy Bradley is Missing - true story. Mystery on a cruise ship (docuseries)
We watched Amy Bradley is Missing. It kept us glued to our seats because there were so many ways she could have died... or could still be alive. Unwrapping her life was like peeling an onion.

We've watched at least 5 Harlan Coben shows and although they are satisfying I always fall asleep because there are so many characters/situations going on. I think my brain just shuts down. We are watching The Stranger now and it is certainly intriguing but sometimes I have to rewind to catch up. :ROFLMAO:

I just finished Hunting Wives on Netflix. It is set in Texas and is full of wealthy grown-up "mean girls" and their crooked husbands. A woman dies at the beginning and as the show unfolds there are a number of characters (and I do mean characters) that become suspect. It is raunchy and there was too much gratuitous sex for my liking, but a campy mystery with vicious Texas women is right up my alley! Hubby and I watched part of the first episode and he said, "This will be YOUR show".

I watched it too...I don't know if she's still alive or not, but I don't think she jumped or fell off the ship...

And, those HC movies, are like you said....way too many characters! Also, it feels that they all sort of have the same story line in a way.

I just completed season 1 of "For All Mankind" on Apple TV. I read that it was classified as science fiction which I guess (in essence) it is but not in the Star Wars etc meaning of the words. It imagines a future where the space race in the 60s went in a completely different direction. But the main thrust of the story is about the lives of the astronauts themselves, their families, their hopes and fears and so on. Now starting season 2 and I believe that season 4 is imminent. Very Bingeworthy !

Season 1 trailer below (some minor spoilers).

Can’t remember if anyone posted that season 3 of Reacher is on Prime.

Found it by accident. Prime has the worst show program layout, at least on my TV.

@OneEyedDiva, this is especially for you.
Thank you for thinking of me Jules ❣️ I started watching S3 and finished Ep 4, but haven't gotten back to it. I have been so engrossed in watching Will Trent for the 3rd time and watching episodes that lead to finales of shows I had also put on the back burner. I so agree with you about the layout for Prime's program listings. What makes it so bad is that it's actually better than it used to be!

And you know that Neagley is getting her own series, right? Cool trivia: Maria Sten (Neagley) was Miss Denmark in the 2008 Miss Universe contest. She competed in the Miss Supertalent of the World contest in 2011 and placed 7 out of 50 contestants. She's from a large family and has 8 siblings.

I started watching Doc Martin last eve, watch 3 episodes I
think...funny and weird show, cannot stand his receptionist,
it is a change from the blood and gore that I was watching... ;)
Doc Martin was great! I watched all seasons as they appeared. As you know, Doc is not fond of 'blood and gore' either :D. Also, the day one receptionist is only there for the 6 eps of S01.

No, I didn't know that, I'm so glad! I said to Huzz, "I really like that character, she should have her own series!" She's a great actor and the character is so interesting. ("Don't mess with the special investigators." :) ) Will her series be on Pr. video?

Okay an update on her series (rn it's just being called "Untitled Neagley Project"):

It says the production companies involved are Amazon MGM Studios, Blackjack Films, and CBS Studios so maybe it'll air on Pr. Video.

I tried watching the new series on Netflix called Leanne, and it might have been fine, but the added canned laugh track made it unbearable. I don't know why they feel the need to cue you to laugh. It's actually insulting to one's intellect.
Not all laugh tracks are the same, but are all still insulting. The one that gets me is the one that is just a continuous loop that maybe no longer that two or three seconds with a guy on an editing machine who ups the volume of the track after a joke, and if he thinks it's a really funny joke, he maxes out the volume of the track, but it's still he same loop, just louder. But it's a cheap way to do it, I suppose.

I thought it was pretty well done. Did some commentary earlier. The problem with the story is that it didn't have a definite conclusion. I think she jumped. She wouldn't have left the stateroom without any shoes.

BTW, have you seen that Leanne Morgan show yet?

I agree. The receptionist was terrible in the first 4 eps (there were two). But you'll be pleased to see that starting in season 5, there is a new receptionist, Her role is better written, and the actress is delightful: Jessica Ransom - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3353432/mediaviewer/rm1154925312/?ref_=nm_ph_3
