Beautiful or not?

I think it only matters what you think of it and that it appeals to you. It would personally be too ornate for me, and I don't collect figurines, statues, knick-knacks, etc. I like very simple things and less items to dust!:)

Taste in art is a very personal thing Deb, so it's good if your friends voiced their honest opinions, it doesn't take anything away from how you like the figurine. Like CindyLou and Rose, I think it's overly ornate and don't really care for any knick knacks like that.

I like it. But what's important is that you like it.

I inherited a lot of Victorian-style kitsch from both my mother and my mother-in-law. That generation really loved that stuff. When I was younger, I thought it was hideous, but I've grown to like
it because of the family history behind it.

Some years ago, we won a ridiculously ornate wall clock at a gag gift exchange at a neighborhood Xmas party. We kept it for a year, then brought it back for the next year's party, and another "lucky" neighbor got it. It got passed around that way for several years. Finally, someone put it out in their front yard, hanging from a tree. That clock provided a lot of fun!

It is a bit to ornate for me also but I have a few things that are ornate because they have some family history behind them. That is what is important to me at this time in my life. I have a few Roseville vases in my living room. I don't particularly care for them but they belonged to my Mother and every time I dust them I think of her and that is why I keep them.

I think that it is extremely beautiful ! I think that my mother had similar ones, because it looks familiar to me. We always had angel decorations at Christmas, and a very old lighted angel that went on top of the tree. I am not sure how long my folks had had this tree angel, but the plug-in for it was very old looking, so I am guessing maybe early 1920’s or 1930’s.

I like it but would not keep it as its too ornate for me and it would not get dusted much here as I am getting rid of things that do not bring me pleasure.

I think it's really pretty. Love the flowers and those roses at her feet. Love the colors. I would definitely put it somewhere in my house. And at 7 inches, it's not too large.

Too ornate? or not, I like that it's meant as an angel...even though not having the appearance of God's true angels.:)

I don't believe in angels, but that doesn't really matter. The piece has been colored in vey nice pastel colors, but all that matters is if you like it. As other have said, art is a personal thing. If you like it, that's all that matters.

If you like it, that is all that matters. What kind of friends do you have that come in your house and put down your things? Or did you ask them if they liked it? I personally don't like things that catch much dust and I don't care for fussy looking items but if it had a lot of family history I'd probably keep it anyway. Maybe behind a glass door where it wouldn't get much dust. But if YOU like it, that is all that matters.

I have an 11" tall figure of Venus de Milo on my desk that I bought in Greece in 1957. Not as ornate but a nice piece.

It has a certain beauty to it due to the theme and color contrast. Ornate I guess would be a way to describe the flourish of the gown & addition of the flowers. For me while it has beauty it also looks like a lot of work to keep in pristine condition. It's what you like and that is all that matters.
