Bloating or gas remedies.

I had some trouble in that department and talked to my doctor. He suggested Florastor (brand name) probiotic in pill form and I take one a day. I haven't had any trouble since. Doctor's reasoning was that as we get older we don't have the gut flora to combat some stomach ailments. Hope this post helps.

How much farting is normal

No matter what you tell your S.O., it’s pretty much a given that you fart regularly. In fact, if you’re like most people, you probably do it several times per day. But if you find that you seem to be tooting more than usual, it’s natural to wonder if you’re going overboard in the gas department. It turns out, what’s considered “normal” for passing gas is probably more than you’d think. The average person has about 0.5 to 1.5 liters of gas hanging out in their digestive track per day. However, the actual amount of gas that you fart out varies, and it’s hard for doctors to put an exact number on it.

There’s a general thought that guys tend to be gassier than girls, but it’s a total myth. “Research has not shown that gas production is gender-specific,” Women and men alike both can toot up to 20 times per day and still be considered in the “normal” range. 20 times per day? Right now, you might be thinking, "well, I certainly don't fart that much." But, oh, you do, we all do. It turns out that we all expel gas, not only when we're awake, but also as we snooze. It's a reflex, after all. Again, exactly how much you fart at night varies, but unless your middle-of-the-night farting is so bad that it's waking you or your bed buddy up, it's nothing to worry about.

Diet, in what you eat, is mostly the cause. Eating a high protein diet will inevitably cause, ahem, a gas release, a pungent release at that. Eating less meat and including at least five pieces of fruit every day will lessen the problem but it will cause you to make sure that there's a lavatory within the vicinity when you experience that first sphincter twitch.

I suffer from IBS. For 15 years bloating and gas has periodically been a major problem. I have used everything my Doc suggested to no avail. Then 6 months ago I started the Keto diet. Within a couple weeks my problems decreased significantly.

I hope you don't mind me asking.

Really! Sounds hopeful.
I may have to give that Keto diet a try. It looks similar to some of the way I eat now.

It doesn't happen until about 5, then it is constant gas, bloating and some diahrea. I have tried a lot of the gas pills and liquids and got no help. I even went to the er and everything is fine. I will get in touch with my dr, but will see about trying Florastor. I am willing to try anything at this point. Thanks

I also have ulcers, so that may be contributing to my bloating.
I need to make an appt w/my gastro for some meds to may be help w/that.

As I've said previously, I've gotten 3 diff diagnosis from these gastro doctors.
So, I had to pause for a moment. And, rethink things. And, read.

I don't think so, because it hasn't changed over the past 2 years.
Soda helps me. Right out of the can, get it down 1/4-1/3 of the can) with as many intact bubbles as possible. Then I burp and I feel so much better. Your issue does sound different.

I wonder about some foods. I used to buy a certain bakery bread years ago and then noticed twice after I consumed it my stomach rumbled like crazy and I had gas. Never bought it again. Usually try to stick to organic breads, but not strictly. I wonder with modified, GMO stuff, what could be done to our foods causing issues. Just a thought.

I seem to store up gas all night, then first pee I also have a long drawn out fart. DH sleeps longer in the morning than I do and is deaf but I still worry about him hearing that morning fart. I know better but as it happens I still think "oh goodness what if he hears that". At our ages you would think we have heard all the farts over our almost 65 years and stopped worrying about it.

I have tried Gas X, Mylanta, and Pepto Bismol to no avail. Now I am trying Beano. Not a serious problem, but when it hits it is.
Do you take more than one Gas-X at a time? You can, with no ill effects. Once I found that out, we started giving our dog 2 of them.

I am no advocating swallowing a handful, and the dog weighs 60 lbs.

In no way was I talking about a dog.
I know you weren't.

It's called Florastor.
How much Florastor (Saccharomyces Boulardii) do you take a day? I found both Florastor and a cheaper brand called Intestinal Support that's also Sacc. Boul. and each capsule of both brands are different strengths.) Also, about how long does it take for it to start working? I've been on it a week but haven't noticed any difference yet.
