We could quickly end the marijuana problem. Impose a mandatory fifty year prison sentence with no possibility of parole for selling or giving marijuana to others. When a few thousand people have been convicted and imprisoned, potential offenders will take note.
I think that this might be an excellent idea for the actual drug dealers who sell dangerous drugs to other people, and especially to children.
I do not think that marijuana fits into this catagory, and I think that more people are hooked on drugs from medications that were at first legally prescribed to them by their doctors than got there from smoking pot.
There are many children that are on prescription mind-altering drugs from the time that they start school, or even before, and actually, a lot of these children would be fine if they had a better diet, with less sugary foods, and maybe more attention from their parents.
My friend who died from a drug overdose became addicted when she started having severe back pain, and her doctor put her on pain medication.
When they took her off of the medication because they realized that she was addicted, she started buying the pain meds illegally, both because she was addicted, and also because she was in terrible pain for the issues with her back.
She accidentally overdosed, or maybe got some bad drugs (no one knows for sure), and died.
She had never smoked pot, and didn’t even drink; but because of addiction to prescription drugs, she died. She was only in her late 20’s, and it was a sad and unnecessary waste of a good person’s life.
I have been reading about the health benefits of cannabis, and it seems to me that it would be safer to use than most of the addictive drugs that doctors put people on. From what I have read, the leaves have the most healing properties, as well as the least mind-altering properties, and when added into a green smoothie, they can be very healing, and not addictive, although they do help with pain, and also with seizures.
I live in a state where it is not legal, but if it were, I would definitely try growing some and using the leaves in a green smoothie for thehealth benefits.
