You can whistle at me anytime girl! But it's ok for us girls to wolf whistle, right?!![]()
Trish you know exactly how it would be policed..the same way as the police now concentrate on so called hate speech, rather than serious issues..I do not agree that wolf whistling should be made a criminal offence nor do I think it necessary here in the UK as most building companies have long since banned their employees from whistling or calling out to female passersby. The reports I read late last year referred to "street ****** harassment" and cited instances of stalking, harassment and ****** offences rather than wolf whistling although, the latter probably would be included. What I would be interested to know is how it would be policed given that most police forces now claim to be undermanned unless, of course, they are dealing with the welfare of protestors or attending the Notting Hill Carnival where they seem to be in abundance![]()
No apparently not if the man makes a complaint...But it's ok for us girls to wolf whistle, right?!![]()
Actually, on that basis, they would probably arrive mob handed if a passing fella was reported as "whistling".Trish you know exactly how it would be policed..the same way as the police now concentrate on so called hate speech, rather than serious issues..![]()
yes and that wouldn't surprise me either...Actually, on that basis, they would probably arrive mob handed if a passing fella was reported as "whistling".![]()
Me too. I got a marriage proposal from a construction worker once and smiled all day. What is the matter with people these days that they are trying to make normal things criminal? Get a clue. Life is hard enough.Nope. Feel GREAT when somebody whistles. Always did. Hate to see that go.
you'd think so, but our country has fast slidden into Woke Country.. perhaps we could be called the Woke Capital of Europe... oh no we're not even a member of Europe now are we ! *sigh*What a totally stupid waste of time. Surely there are much more important issues with which to occupy their time!
OK, we'll see... but I get first dibs on your house if you're wrong...News agencies around the world are in the business of ‘selling stories’. Their method of selling stories is often done in a way to cause people to come back for more. Whether it is a newspaper to increase revenue or TV to increase ratings. To publish that wolf whistling will became a crime causes some to come back & read more. There is no crime of wolf whistling in the UK, in itself. And there won’t be any in the near future. I would bet my house on it.

You were too fast for me. Ive updated my post further since thenBelieve me, your house is totally safe!!
Booing can seem more agressive & upsetting to some before whistling ever would. Some would find it really offensive too. My money is on booing becoming a crime first. I might have to wait a very long time before I get paid out on that bet though. How is anybody going to prove that it was a "wolf whistle" as opposed to somebody just plain whistling? Or is that going to be a crime, too
