What makes you say that you do not look good in a hat? What shapes have you tried? Not for all the tea in China will I wear a cap!

My mirror and I know myself. The hat you suggested is huge and looks ridiculous on me - I’m too short for large hats. I’ve tried every shape and size.

Actually, a ball cap with a curved bill is best for my need - keeping the bright light off my eye.
 
This is a restored and colorized video of commuters in New York City during the mid-1930s. Most of them are wearing fashionable hats of those times. Nowadays, you see hats worn for practical reasons during extreme weather, as in cold winter and very hot summers.

 
Nice find, McBride! I'm always mesmerized by videos of earlier eras, and being colorized makes the film much more realistic.

I never cared for straw hats that were so popular then, although I've always been a big fan of fedoras. I loved some of the dresses popular in the '30s, and a few of the ladies' hat styles. Very classy.
 
The only time my dad wore a hat was to church. Every now and then, he would put his Baltimore Orioles cap on when we would go to a game. He also wore a ski cap to shovel or blow snow.

My "fashion statement" is - - - When dressed up - suit and tie - NO HAT. In my everyday clothes - a baseball cap or bare-headed. (and I mean - bare because I'm partially bald)
