Do you remember...Hats?

I wear a hat almost every day and I don’t even like them. Well, I do like them in the winter, I don’t want to be cold. Six years ago I had failed eye surgery and one pupil is permanently dilated, so I have to keep my face shaded. The good thing is that it helps with sun protection for my face. I’d never worn ball caps; now they’re my norm. In the summer, I often wear a visor indoors. Some folks look good in a hat; I’m not one of them. Smushes my hair too.
What makes you say that you do not look good in a hat? What shapes have you tried? Not for all the tea in China will I wear a cap!
Your fault - I could not resist. Different streamers or just a big pin? How is it shapeable? We shall see. I do work on SO's every day felt hats to change the brim shape. https://www.amazon.com/Packable-Ribbon-Crusher-Shade-Shapeable/dp/B08CRZD44P?gQT=1&th=1&psc=1

My mirror and I know myself. The hat you suggested is huge and looks ridiculous on me - I’m too short for large hats. I’ve tried every shape and size.

Actually, a ball cap with a curved bill is best for my need - keeping the bright light off my eye.

This is a restored and colorized video of commuters in New York City during the mid-1930s. Most of them are wearing fashionable hats of those times. Nowadays, you see hats worn for practical reasons during extreme weather, as in cold winter and very hot summers.

Nice find, McBride! I'm always mesmerized by videos of earlier eras, and being colorized makes the film much more realistic.

I never cared for straw hats that were so popular then, although I've always been a big fan of fedoras. I loved some of the dresses popular in the '30s, and a few of the ladies' hat styles. Very classy.

The only time my dad wore a hat was to church. Every now and then, he would put his Baltimore Orioles cap on when we would go to a game. He also wore a ski cap to shovel or blow snow.

My mom really liked hats. She had one that a friend gave to her that Cher had worn in the movie "Tea with Mussolini". It even had the property tag on it.

I have a western one that Charlie Daniels gave to my late, ex, brother-in-law when he was a roadie. He sold it to me. I'll wear it when the giddy-up gets goin'.

My sister had a "hat party" for her 50th birthday. Everyone had to wear hats, the more outrageous the better. There were some good'uns.

I wear a hat (sun hat, ballcap) pretty much all the time when I'm out in the sun because my hair is so thin I burn my scalp if I'm not careful AND to protect my face after the cancer episode. Unfortunately, I have a large head and a lot of one-size-fits-all hats don't.......

Just heard about..(the) Scot(ch) bonnet

Anyone wanna guess...
post pictre😉
There are 2 types "scotch bonnets " that come to mind. The first is a firey small pepper grown in the Bahamas. It has a very high "Scoville heat rating" and the unwary should only try a small sliver the first time they taste one. That pepper has a crown on the top of it where it grew on a vine.

The second "Scotch Bonnets ", are 2 different types of military uniform head gear. The Balmoral Bonnet is a wide flat cap that stands up on one side, where the Regiment badge is worn on the left side, usually backed with a 4 inch square of the unit's tartan cloth. The Glen Garry bonnet is a smaller wedge cap, that has 2 trailing black silk ribbons at the back, and it usually has a diced multi coloured border around the head band. The Regimental badge is normally worn on the left side of the person's head.

My dad wore some kind of hat fairly often, but not when mom and him would go out or to church. He wasn’t bald, but he said he just felt comfortable wearing a hat. Thankfully, we all kept our hair, but not as thick as it was when I was younger.
