Don’t fall for misanthropy

If you are burnt out on my "psycho" threads just skip. 😀
Besides having SA, I also have become a little misanthropic in my later years. This is at odds with my Christian status but I digress....
Its tempting to just think all people are selfish egotists who only care about their precious agendas. But it is simply not true.
Its a matter of cleaning our dirty lenses. We are looking at life through our own cynical pessimism.
Dostoevskys Notes from the Underground is worth a read on this topic. The main character is a sad misanthrope .
Note to self: look for the good in others and you will find it. just like you became good at finding the bad.

Sometimes I lose sight of how kind, heroic and noble humans can be.
Thanks, Hypo. I needed that.

Some of us have or had jobs which reinforce the '"skill" of finding fault.
My job as cleaner is to scan and find areas which need cleaning. I dont scan for clean spots.
Maybe editing would be a similar thing. Scanning for mistakes .
Does that mindset transfer to my personal life? Probably.

Yes, there is good to be found in everyone...you just have to dig a little deeper in some people.

Hypo, I think your mind is smarter and your will is stronger than to let your "scanning-for-mistakes-job" transfer to social interactions with real human beings, especially to the proportions of misanthropy. It would just be a cop-out to use your "job skills to find fault" as your excuse. Take no offense because I don't really think we're talking about you. I think you have good intentions in stirring things up a bit in SF just to get us all to think about "stuff". It's working so good for you.

But if anyone truly does have hatred in their hearts toward others then do a self-check. Dislike is one thing but hatred is unacceptable. God will deal with the hated, and he'll deal with the haters too. We have a growing number of haters in the world today. *Sigh*

to be fair to my good self Lara I was only using my job example as a reinforcement not a cause and effect. i had misanthropic tendencies before I started cleaning.

But then we shouldnt fall for hating the haters either....or hating those who hate the haters
😀
So true. Jesus hates the sin but not the sinner...and so should we. There are 3 kinds of love (brotherly love, God's love, and romantic love). Some sinners are so despicable that I have to love them with God's love.

...and, hypo, I believe in "your good self" 😇

Not to change the subject Lara---but I LOVE this sig you have---🦋 Southern girls are raised on Sweet Tea & a whole lotta' Jesus 🦋
Haters in the world need to get to know a whole lotta about Jesus' love.

So here's the thing. It's a choice. You can choose to be a misanthrope, or not. Look for the good in people -- it's not always there, but usually it is. My biggest peeve is people who are virtue signaling phonies, and I just ignore them or call them out.

Is that avatar Inspector Morse? That's who it looks like.
No way....

Last evening, I watched a program on the Oxygen channel about the Manson girls. Most of them have the same thoughts and ideology as they did back in the 60's. It was obvious to me from listening to them that they are still filled with hate.

The one girl, (I'm terrible with remembering names), made the comment, "We did what had to be done." To me, that's just sick. None of them showed any true remorse for their crimes, including that little rat Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme.

By the end of the 2-hour show, I found myself disgusted with all of them, but did not hate any of them. I came away with the conclusion that each of them still suffer from some type of mental disorder. A person has to be mentally disturbed. How can a person kill so many, or want to kill people or take orders from a 5'2" runt like Manson and still even today think and comment that "Charlie was right." I don't even want to talk about Tex Watson. That man should never be left out of prison.
