Easily distracted, (are you easily distracted too?)

I think I have always been fairly easily distracted, so my concentration wanes quicker than it probably should, especially if there is anyone interrupting my train of thought.

I doubt I'm on my own over this, and I should confess too, "if I were watching a good ball game", it could sometimes be almost impossible to get my mind away from it, so very hard to distract then, or even speak to sometimes, (literally I wouldn't hear you if you tried to speak to me!). 🏈⛹️‍♂️.

I often seem to struggle to remain interested in a tv weather report in order to get the information needed to make my mind up concerning the field work I need to do when helping a farming friend.

There are often distractions displayed behind the weather reporter, like photographs taken by "weather watchers", (tv audience members sending them in showing scenes from their locality).

Then there are some very very nice weather presenters, who somehow seem so nice, or their voices are so soothing, "they make me nod off briefly before I get the info I need"!

I am very easily distracted as I've said, so it really isn't the presenters fault, though I have to say there are some presenters, (male and female), who I find I can listen to and remember what they've said, better than others. :).

Huh? I used to be a very focused person, but since the virus came to town I hardly remember my own name anymore. If I get too distracted, I just got to sleep.

Since the advent of Covid, I have offered online support to front line and essential workers , as well as online university classes in managing stress through mindfulness etc. My focus for these things is holding its own, but my offline life bears the brunt of that level of discipline. Talk about brain fog....lol

Oh dear, another aspect of absent mindedness I'm afraid I have to report.

This morning I managed to pour the milk straight into the instant coffee jar, (I know, "instant coffee philistine").

I intended of course to pour the milk into the thermos flask I use in the day, add the dried coffee, then put in the boiling water, (all good and sensible, stops coffee granules sticking to flask sides, and maybe coffee tastes best when water put in last?).

Never done it before, and luckily coffee jar less than third full, plus I had a spare jar of coffee, but what was distracting me you may ask?

Actually I was thinking about my next post on the forum, so there you go! :(:rolleyes: .

In my case, it's less a matter of being more distractable than it is of being less patient; I simply don't want to wade through a lot of verbiage, either oral or written. I like to get to the point, or cut to the chase. Shiny objects, however, are well known for distracting those of my persuasion... Ooh look, pretty shiny thing! Now what were you saying?

# 13, 14, yea, you get exhausted waiting for them to get to the point-but, I find myself doing the same t
you can whack these folks with a stick, if they call the cops it goes like this:
'officer he hit me with'
'Hey, you kin to the Murray's, you look like my great uncle Jed....'
'his wife run off with a sailor...'
