Eating a plant-based diet.

I read a book years ago named "Diet for a New America". It was written by John Robbins, the heir to the Baskin Robbins company...He walked away from that family company and wrote that book that told the truth about what happens to animals before they end up in our food store and the health consequence of eating animal based products...It changed my life. I read it in 1984 when I was 31 years old and have been a vegan ever since...
Thanks for asking,!

What inspired you to eat a vegan diet, @VeggieMan?

When I was vegan I was a big fan of Isa Moskowitz's cookbooks. The one that got me started was, "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World!" Great recipes.

I think I had more of her stuff than my other vegan cookbooks combined. Used to make a tofu omelet from her "Vegan Brunch" that was really good.

And I still make her, "Sexy Low-fat Vanilla Cupcakes," on the rare occasion I feel like baking.

I went from veganism to pescatarianism to an omnivore diet and have been back here for more than a decade now. I still have some of Isa's books, though.

There are a few recipes I still enjoy. I tweaked a recipe from, "The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook," for some nice Vegan Mac & Cheese.

They are good, the Sexy Low-fats, but there are chocolate ones that are better. ;)

You must have tons collected recipes at this point. :) Ooo, are you familiar with Boca 'Chik'n' Patties? Their spicy ones are delish. :)
