Favorite singer of all time, who is yours?

Helen, your mention of Willie Nelson made me remember him receiving his honorary doctorate from Berklee Music College in Boston.

“I was going to ask them if I could write my own medication,” he told
The Boston Globe
. “Probably not, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.” He added that he was honored his degree was coming from the renowned music school.

Elvis Presley, no question. Too hard to nail down for female but the question really didn't specify male/female, so I'll go with Elvis Presley. A couple of my current female favorites are Adele and Norah Jones.

I like different types of music (older country and older rock) by different singers.....I can't pick just one favorite.

My favorite? Easy, based on childhood memories, I have to pick my mother. In the late 40s and early 50s, no radio, no TV, my mother would sing as she did all those things mothers used to do.

btw, she will be 95 in a couple of months, but she doesn't sing these days.

Am I the only person on this planet that did not like Elvis?

No, I never cared for him either .

Ever heard of a guy named Ral Donner ? sounds just like him. He came along after Elvis , some say his sound was natural? some say it was imitated , practiced & honed ?

He is easily googled , give him a listen...see what you think?

Terry Stafford also sounded like Elvis. When I first heard Suspicion, I had to really listen to determine it wasn't Elvis. Elvis also recorded Suspicion but most prefer Terry Stafford's version. I've been an Elvis Presley fan as long as I can remember and will most likely remain so for all my remaining days, good Lord willing of course.

Elvis had a fantastic voice. With just a little more training, he could have sung anything and made it sound great. Personally, I just didn't care much for his choices of songs, that's all. When he first started out, it was a little bit before the time I got interested in music.

Elvis didn't always have the option of choosing the songs he sang. The Colonel, the powers that be in the industry, music, movies, etc., all had agendas and, as with anything else, Elvis had to go along with song choices, among other things, that he didn't necessarily agree with and quite often didn't. Ditto with most of the movie types that were chosen for him :(. He was and will always be #1 in my heart.

As I grew older, seeing Elvis (in movies), I began to notice his non-muscular physique. Turn off! lol. The song I love to hear of his is "Just a Closer Walk with thee......"

C'est moi, you like all the modern day singers I loved, too.

Here is Joe Cocker with captions. Make sure to read the captions, Sorry it's so long but I don't think I'll ever top laughing at it. Bookmark it for later when you have time.

That is one of my all-time favorites, RR!! I have sent it to many "old rocker" friends since it appeared on Youtube about 10 years ago.

Haha. RaddishRose. A hilarious classic now. Still a great voice. Does he look wasted or what? Lol

There are so many, but these come to mind....Elvis, Willie Nelson, Rod Stewart, Neal Diamond, Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Patsy Cline, Elton John and Tina Turner.

Hmmm, female singers. Probably Cheryl Crow, Aretha Franklin, and Linda Ronstadt. And I do think Adele has an amazing voice.
