I'm a little suspicious about that fire. I can't help wondering if one of "X's" many enemies deliberately set the fire and made it look like an accident. Seriously folks, half of those who are anti "X" are not playing with a full deck.

I' m not a big believer in coincidences.

Regardless of how it started, shouldn't it have been contained by some kind of sprinkler system or something similar? A high rise building like a tower ought to have something to limit the spread of fire.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. A hired professional arsonist would know how to get around sprinklers.
The fire codes of N.Y.C. would certainly require such sprinklers. This was no "ordinary" fire. Something mighty strange about it. The news reports indicate that even some of the firefighters were overcome with smoke,

According to this link given on the BBC website "Fire sprinklers were not required in New York City high-rises when Trump Tower was completed in 1983. Subsequent updates to the building code required commercial skyscrapers to install the sprinklers retroactively, but owners of older residential high-rises are not required to install sprinklers unless the building undergoes major renovations."

The report I read was that the residential floors do not have sprinkler systems.
It is very lucky, and a tribute to the fireys, that it did not spread.

I believe that you did hear that on the news, but I find it hard to believe that the report is correct. If true that would be a real shocker given that NYC has a reputation for being tough on building/fire codes.

Apparently the fatality involves a bankrupt art dealer. If the apartment had a lot of oil paintings and traditional art supplies perhaps that is why the fire got pretty intense.

Also they're say no fire sprinklers. That wouldn't be the first time I've heard that about older buildings. Through the 80s and/or even 90s the biggest emphasis on big/tall structures was sturdiness and mindset of what's going to burn in a concrete, steel and glass building. It wasn't right but that was the mindset of many.

At the risk of sounding stooopid...What does "X" mean ?

Ah yes, Traveler, I was wondering when you were going to use some topic or other in the news to incite a fiery, inflammatory, explosive, heated argument about a thinly disguised political issue. Which brings another supposition to mind:

Since about 90% of X's supporters are not "playing with a full deck," how do we know this was not arson, commissioned by X, to distract the news media from the legal investigations closing in on him? Also, the insurance money would come in handy.
