I'm sorry, I don't believe you are correct. Emanuel is used 3 times in Isaiah & once in Matthew. Isaiah is announcing the coming of a messiah who will be called Emanuel (sp?) Matthew is quoting Isaiah. Jesus birthname name was supposedly Yeshua, or Joshua, which was changed by the Greeks to Jesus.
The Catholic Church has always taught that his actual name was Immanuel. However, I found this:In the prophecy of the virgin birth,
Isaiah 7:14, the prophet Isaiah declares, “The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” This prophecy had an initial fulfillment during Isaiah’s day, but it ultimately refers to the birth of Jesus, as we see in
Matthew 1:22–23: “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘
God with us’).” This does not mean, however, that the Messiah’s actual given name would be
Immanuel.
So, it is apparently often to compare how we speak of Babe Ruth. His given name is George Herman Ruth, not really Babe, as most people know him.
You know, Pepper, all these teachings are so similar, yet each has its own connotation. Nonetheless, I would no more disparage the head of any religion who passed on, whether I found him personally wanting or not. It is a genuine loss to those who did love and follow anyone of such importance.
