Thank you for keeping track. My intent was simply to add to what was said in in post #8. rgp saw fit to attack my statement which he disagreed with.
Isn't there more bad weather already on the way and likely to overrun many of the same areas already suffering?
Decent update, just over 10 minutes.
It has been a week since I heard from my friend who lives east of Asheville. She called last Friday before we knew of the devastation in the surrounding area. At that time her power was out and a couple of trees had fallen but she still had cell phone service.
I agree completely !! But I fear it will fall on deaf ears.
I agree I attacked your statement, I did not however attack you.Thank you for keeping track. My intent was simply to add to what was said in in post #8. rgp saw fit to attack my statement which he disagreed with.
My entire family is from the Carolinas, dating back to the mid 18th century, so I'll always be concerned about the well being of the area and peoples.
If I let you have the last say, will you just quit derailing this thread?I agree I attacked your statement, I did not however attack you.
You started us down that road in post #50 . I give what i get.
well, you must have not called the power company to disconnect , as you're still here. So when are you going to do anything , giving of yourself, to save the planet ? Like I said, lead by example .
I don't need the last say, I believe I made my point about climate change and about you ....... and you don't let me anything. If I let you have the last say, will you just quit derailing this thread?
Finally, thank you.I don't need the last say, I believe I made my point about climate change and about you ....... and you don't let me anything.
To the rest of the group, I will apologize for my part in the off topic discussion/debate.
She has family there and is a "take charge" kind of person so I feel that if anyone can organize a solution she is the one.Hugs, @Alzerine. I hope you hear from her soon.
Finally, thank you.
Was that you that flew over???? Glad to hear Jujube and Laras folks are safe. We are just a few miles from Lake Lure/Chimney Rock and its total devastation around here. Of 5 ways into our community, one was flooded until saturday evening, the others washed out, with one since repaired Finally got power thurs evening, cell service yesterday and internet this morning. Personally we got very lucky, have 2 dozen trees down, but no structural damage. Its going to take YEARS for many to recover, and some never will. Confirmed death toll so far is at 220, and several hundred still missing.A friend of mine took 3 of us for a ride in his 6 seat plane over the damaged area in NC this morning. It was heartbreaking to see the damage left behind.
Cars piled up, houses in pieces, I even saw an RV worth over $100,000 lying on its side. Trees lying all about. It looked a bomb went off.
Glad you got by fairly well, considering. Yes, Years. Was that you that flew over???? Glad to hear Jujube and Laras folks are safe. The pictures and videos look bad, but its worse in person. It looked like you could walk across the lake by the damn yesterday.
Glad they're ok!My sister and B-I-L got home OK. House was OK. No power (but they have a whole-house generator), cell phone only intermittent reception, one of their trees was on/in a neighbor's porch and the thousands of dollars of dirt they had trucked in earlier this summer after a landslide is now down in the ravine, probably with more of the septic system.
But they are thanking their lucky stars they got off so lightly. And we're thankful they had a home to come home to.
