Man made or not, if the trend is more climate disasters lets prepare and keep this in mind. One way or the other we all are going to have to adjust the way we live . We need to participate in alternative energy not just because someone thinks it is causing warming, but because it is a non-renewable resource. We have to find other means of creating energy, and make it as safe as possible. The prices will keep dropping as the demand increases. More investments will super charge the growth of new technology. So it is a win/win to go green. :)
 

Looting is getting bad in affected areas but there's not much media coverage. Lots of looting in stores and even homes of people who are stranded with limited food and water.

One Tennessee county sheriff is urging people guarding their homes to keep their guns on their persons at all times and don't hesitate to shoot looters. Seems harsh until you realize that robbing people food, water and medications when there is no way to get more condemns them to a slow and miserable death.

And the truth is, earth has been having violent storms and such long before modern man & his inventions.
 
The concept that climate change is real, and is man made, and caused by excessive use of fossil fuels is pretty much accepted by the scientific community. There is data from multiple sources and all over the globe that confirms this. An online search will provide scientific sites.
 
I moved to N. East Pennsylvania right after the 1972 Agnes flood. It was hit really hard. But the bad part was when the cameras and politicians left. People were left to repair and patch up their homes by themselves, unless they waited a few years for professionals to get to them. And the cost of repairs was more than the house was worth. Never mind insurance claims. The flood scarred people.

As there are many sites that debunk the [man made] theory .

What is excessive use ? What are actual alternatives ? Not 'pie-in the sky' fantasy alternatives , but again actual/achievable alternatives. If for example we, [in say the next10 years] switch completely to electric cars. Just think for a moment .... how much more electricity we will need to generate, to charge them ? that electricity will need to be generated by ? Coal, nuclear , nat/gas ..... how is that exactly lowering our dependency on fossil fuel ??

Wind ? we would need a wind mill in about every other back yard . Solar ? again, we would need a 'solar-farm' in just about every neighborhood.

Again, there are no viable alternatives at this point.

Someday ..... maybe ? But I for one doubt it.

Thank you JBR. My daughter lives in Asheville. We had no communication and that was heart wrenching. But she finally made her way to a Museum that had some form or communication and allowed her to call me. I was so relieved after days of silence to know that she, her fiancee, her puppy, her house, and car were okay but they had no water, no sign of any rescue for others or help of any kind for 2 days, and no way out since they closed the roads.

But she found and used a Museum communication source to call me and then to get on social media where someone posted a way out of Asheville that headed south instead of east. So she used their directions and arrived here safely. Where I live in NC, the land curves a little and that helps us I think. She arrived on the Island and no damage here.

Surprisingly, our island was just missed by hurricane Helene. But my other daughter who lives a mile down the road had a tornado go around her house. She didn't experience much but her neighbor had a rocking chair hanging in the tree and downed trees. Another house lost some siding and then the tornado path went across the hwy heading toward the Sound leaving a path of tree destruction.

I only received a lot of wind and barely any rain. No damages here. It will be a very long time to restore Asheville and our prayers go out to them. I've been very emotional when I see the photos and hear the stories, and so grateful we were spared.

Samaritan's Purse arrived early on (just after my daughter left) with a small tented hospital, supplies, handing out water, lots of volunteers,etc. Elon Musk sent Franklin Graham of Samaritan's Purse a SpaceX Starlight communcation invention that worked extremely well. So he requested more be sent to the region. Elon Musk did just that. I'm so thankful for that as it's heart wrenching not to be in contact with families.

My sister is getting back home near the Asheville area tomorrow from Portugal, so I'll hear more info after that. They hope they can get up the mountain to their house. I don't think there was too much damage up her way, but just trying to get there is going to be the challenge. There's a river at the foot of the mountain that floods at the drop of a hat, so it's probably gone far out of its banks and flooded all the fields and roads down there.

It is indeed your problem, as it is you that dodges the truth, by believing all the bullshit that is spread around by social media . And my first "bullshit" comment was not an insult to you, but a mere note about that social media.

Ok, I think these disasters are not as easily explained as climate change. For one, climate change is something that has been going on forever, and always will. There is enough evidence it is not man made, but cyclical. The charts that the govts pick and choose are but mere snippets of the real charts. Eg; they take the last 100 years and when you look at that, it looks like its our fault. But when you look at the entire chart that was not cut off, we having been going down for more than a 1000 years.

For humanity to think we can affect this giant place we live with our cars, cow farts, etc is ludicrous.

Now...the NC issue. I for one find it extremely disturbing that we hear the authorities take their sweet time allowing rescuers, National Guards, DND, or anyone in. For one, who the heck says you dictate when people are allowed to help others, and 2 when any massive issue occurs, you get off your couch or golf course, get in your office on the dam phone and get the info.

This happens too often. Maui, BC, California, NC...this seems to be a common theme. I also find it very interesting that all these places where extreme disasters occurred there are ulterior motives in the background. Maui and the land grab, Cali and the land grab, BC land grab, NC land grab. All 4 had previous applications for land purchase and/or business/work permits.

As a spec ops who has been in sketchy places, I have seen this before in the past. For example...seen by 50 plus men in Afghanistan. Large black unmarked planes landing at 2-3 am, loaded with pallets and pallets of drugs in no time, then immediately disappears. No flight logs, no record of those flights. We all know drugs were in those pallets. Who took them, why and where? In Iraq as attache, we knew there were no WMD's, yet intel and cetain govts kept saying so.

Do not believe or trust govts or organizations that tell you one thing but do another.

This NC is something more than they are saying, and it's sickening to know very little help is getting in there. Also disgusting how many people die because they govt hasn't 'authorized' rescue or help.

a friend of mine was saying something very similar just yesterday over pizza & beer . Basically that a man who owned a helicopter was warned he faced possible arrest for flying in, and rescuing people as he had been doing because . He had no permission to do so, and his flights had not been coordinated by the gov/agency that does that sort of thing ?

So here we have a man, getting into his own pocket to help all those he can, and his facing possible arrest ??? As per my friend , this man has said to hell with it and is still doing so.

I'll contact my friend and see if he can forward the information directly to me. And I will post it here.

My heart goes out to all these people. It is simply mind boggling. I can not imagine what the logistics of “help” might look like. It all will initially be inadequate because as a country we do not fund for multiple catastrophic events. Noone will be “made whole” for years and years. Roads? Bridges? Where to start?
