Cabin Fever

New Member
Just retired at 70 - absolutely hating it and feel that I am going round the bend. Nothing to look forward to now, nothing to fill the day, suddenly, after a very active life, I realise that I am no use to anyone, just a useless wrinkled old passenger.

Happy days!

Welcome CF...where are you in England

I can feel your horror at having nothing to do with your days..I'm not retired yet but I've been off work for the last week with a back problem and honestly Cabin fever sets in really quickly..so I understand how you must be feeling.

Joining here is a start., lots of people to chat to.....and have you ever thought of joining the U3A...or volunteering?

Welcome from Scotland! I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy doing. Just keep reading as you'll like get ideas here.

Welcome Cabin Fever! I'm still catching up on things that I neglected while working, always something to do. Now's your time be kind and think of yourself for once. Your only value is not to be of use of others, I suggest you start by changing your outlook a bit. Show yourself some love, do some new things if you want that you're interested in, thinking more positively about yourself is deserved and will be best for your overall well being and happiness. Glad you're here with us!

Welcome Cabin Fever---It sounds like your very active life was really centered around your employment and not hobbies or social activities, otherwise you would now have more time to pursue hobbies and social activities since you are retired. Am I wrong?

Welcome to the forum. Is it being so cheerful that keeps you going?

I'm glad your here CF, I know that feeling, what now, what's there to look forward to. But I've been figuring out some things;) I am making some plans and I can look forward to those. Even little, everyday things. Anyway, you will have so much in common with many of us, one thing I know is being with some others that understand really does help;) Glad you are here, denise:)

Sometimes it is difficult to separate who,we are from what we do. If you are seventy, you have a wealth of experience to share with those younger than yourself. The young ones may not listen but many of the middle aged ones will. One of the things I like best about this forum, is that I have the opportunity to pick the brains of those who are older than myself. Are you useless, not hardly! Please share your story with us. We will help each other.:love_heart:

Welcome, CF. As you can see from previous posts, we are determined to cheer you up so you've come to the right place!
