Entering a new forum is like your first days at a new job or your first day at a new school. You come in a bit quietly, scout out the atmosphere, put out a feeler or two. Then you join in the conversation, working up to it. After you've sussed out the vibe, then you start making yourself known and find your place in the crowd.
Coming in with all guns a-blastin' away seldom gets you warmly welcomed.
But we tell new people in intro's "jump right in" - perhaps some people just jump in on the wrong foot.
I think we should give people benifit of the doubt and give them a chance. Not everyone is always good at reading the room
