I hate it. My grocery is changing suppliers and the items I used to get from the old supplier won't be available anymore. I used to know what I wanted and where it was, and I was in and out of the store and done. Now I have to learn anew.

My one bank is forcing me into online banking or will otherwise charge me $4 per account for paper statements like I have been getting. I could move that money to my other bank which still gives free paper statements, but I have some direct deposits and withdrawals set up and to move them to another bank will be a hassle.

I hate it! Grrrr.........
 

I hear you. We had to get a new carrier for our smart phone because we lost service in our area. It took mental acrobatics to get this new phone setup. It is like rocket science. I feel like the banks are going completely digital to hook into our credit cards/debit cards from the corporations marketing their products to glean $.00005 out of millions of transactions.

The worst change for me is to watch our planet and all of life begin to collapse everywhere.

Not terribly fond of it
I like knowing where my stuff is on the grocery shelf and hardware store.
I also like where my favorite clothes are in the clothing depts
Now?
When I see what I want/need, I stock up
I have three pairs of favorite hiking boots, because I know I won't ever see 'em again
Especially not in size 14

It seems it's not just the economy, it's more supply and demand (whatever is driving that, I have no idea)

The better part of change is improved product
I was rather pissed I had to go from windows 7 to windows 10
and to do that I had to abandon my beloved desk top PC and go to a laptop
But
found win 10 rocks, and I love my laptop

Anybody screws with that, I'm comin' after 'em

I agree with Janice. Some change is necessary or really does improve things. Some does not, that I can see.

A few years ago, our local supermarket did a big remodeling project, and for months, people were complaining about not knowing where anything was any more. I never saw the reason or improvement resulting from that change.

But if I get a check in the mail (yes, occasionally checks still get used), I love being able to take a picture of it and "deposit" it in my bank account without having to leave the house!

And I think my family being able to all converse with each other, see the latest baby pictures, etc. is a wonderful change, due to smart phones.
Think of what we used to have to go through any time we wanted to share a picture!

I like changes that are for the better for sure. And dislike ones that aren't. At 12 my family moved into an upscale neighborhood. I was nervous at first but I loved the space and how beautiful everything was. People are different too in such places. Overall, they're nicer. At 13, I fought tooth and claw to be allowed to go to public school again for the first time since I was 5 years old. I felt like I had been let out of prison. I like some things about technology while I hate others. I like the convenience of being able to order something I need online. I hate online accounts for services, especially autobilling and being locked out of accounts because they insist the username and email do not match when they do and there is NO human to talk to to correct the problem. I absolutely despise it when our choices are taken away and wonder why people tolerate it or even call it progress? 😖
 
Mixed feelings. One of my favorite changes is that health care providers are now required to provide patients with their own records including all the test results, notes etc. That used to be so closely held that it would practically require an atty to get hold of it.

Disliked: Things that make more work and less service for the customer while charging same or higher prices. Example: going into a Macys after things started to reopen, which used to be very pleasant, and instead of seeing the inviting shoe department with seating and clerks to help find and try on, area was stacked high with boxes, no clerks to help with anything, only one low bench to try on. Used to be able to pay and check out at each individual dept, now 1 station with long lines. Prices higher than ever.

@Chet, these sound like my words, to a "tee". 🤔 I used to love the local grocery store, now I despise it, not only do they move rearrange the store so that you have to hunt for items, they discontinue the more economical, healthier choices and attempt to force you to purchase the more expensive, less healthy items.

I'm pretty web savvy but I despise most financial websites and virtually all government sites, counter intuitive, not user friendly, limited one size fits all information, or else piles of endless links that would take the rest of your life to sift through. Of course, they are always laying traps to get you signed up to go paperless, against your will.
 
Change for change’s sake, that’s exactly what the grocery stores do. Grrr.

They changed the days for garbage, recycling, compost pickup. Not only that, they keep changing the times they come. Throws my whole schedule off.
 
Didn't notice change in going paperless probably as it came along we changed along with it. As for grocery stores rearranging products & shelving, gives me something to do. Then there is the fact that with so many grocery stores available I typically look for the description of what is in the aisles. Meat, vegetables, bakery don't change .
 
Prime video changed their UI, which I don't mind, but they eliminated some useful features like searching only for videos that don't have rental fees (they called them "free," but you pay for them with the subscription). They also removed the ability to add and remove videos to your watchlist from the video list without having to go to the video details page.

They moved the menu from the top to the left side, which is fine, but why eliminate useful functionality?

I'm all for change for the better, but change for the worse -- not so much.
 
Having the familiar is nice, but I'm not going to give up on technology. I had a 13 year old Hyundai, which went to car heaven. My new Hyundai has all kinds of new electronic stuff, which I love. Do I have fond memories of the old car? Yes. Which car is better/easier to drive? Well, the new one, even though it took a while to learn how to work the new one. I admit learning that was not fun, it was a hassle. But 120 years ago, some guy gave up his favorite horse to learn how to drive a Model T. And some technology does need work on it..
 
For the most part I welcome change. Groceries - I no longer go physically to the grocery store. I order and have them delivered. Looking back over the 85 years I've been around, there have been a staggering amount of "changes" - some have lasted and some have not - music presentation to the public - multiple ways to accomplish this. Radio evolves into TV. TV itself has evolved tremendously.. Cars have evolved tremendously. Refrigeration, cooking equipment and washing and drying clothes etc. Yes there is a learning period, but life is about learning and the end result is often an improvement. some will fail and be eliminated, but the majority are often beneficial
 
I kind of like it. It can be a momentary shock if things were fine before, but I adjust.

I have trouble with some computer things (like being required to use a website that will neither accept your password nor let you choose a new one). But I've managed to survive so far.

My whole life has been about change. Some changes are harder than others. I never got used to being a parent.
 
Change? A lot is a big plus. Back in the day if I needed this or that it might mean driving around to two or three hardware stores or maybe 30 miles round trip to local specialty stores. Now I just pick up an iPad and it’s delivered to the front door in a day or two. If I need the car, it has features I never dreamed of. Gotta love lane change warning, automatic braking, backup cross traffic warning, and a Garmin or iPhone that gives me turn by turn instructions to get me literally anywhere the car will take me. In the not too distant future cars will drive and park themselves.

Technology is cool, and will continue to evolve in amazing ways. On the other hand I cant say I am particularly enamored of some other less desirable changes, like an inflation that is eating our retirement savings and a crime rate unlike anything I’ve seen in my life.

Don't like it. My local grocery stores closed down and I have to travel 10 miles to buy things like meat and produce. My old vet retired. It used to cost $25 for an office visit. Sometimes he didn't charge for meds the animal needed. Not now, over $100 for the vet just to have a look. The old vet had a gruff personality, but knew what was wrong with the animal by just looking at it. The new one comes out with a concerned look on his face and asks a hundred questions, one for each dollar he's going to get, and still isn't sure what's wrong. Ugh. I've been to several. All they care about is the condition of the cat's teeth. "Bring him back in a week I want to look at his teeth". Whether he looks at the cat's teeth or not he still charges another $100. 🤦‍♀️

Yes, what is it with the cat's teeth? My sister took her cat to the vet for something, and he said in a disgusted tone, "You never brush your cat's teeth, do you?"

15 years ago, it cost us CAD 800 to have her shots and spayed.

I don't like being forced to do things that's only beneficial to them. I'm ok with change if it's for the good. But this crap of $4 for a statement they used to send out for free is BS. I think the stores change suppliers in an effort to get the stuff they order at the most reasonable price. I know it sucks but it may be necessary.
 
A word about Veterinary Care - people care has improved exponentially in the last 75 + years - and so has veterinary care. For one thing, dental care of pets can result in longer life (as it can for humans - some cardiac problems in humans can be traced back to poor dental health). Anyway, brushing pets teeth can ultimately reduce vet bills as fewer teeth need to be pulled. Many people who love their pets and want them to live longer are willing to do this. It's no big deal if you start when they are a puppy. Bad teeth can be a real nightmare for the poor pet - just as it can be for people.
Medical care generally has increased in costs - and so has vet medical costs for both the vet - and the client. There is more known about pet physiology and diseases. The old timey vet didn't have the wealth of knowledge available to him that the modern day vet does, so it was definitely easier to come to conclusions about the known medical problems.
 
I embrace change!
I might grumble about it a little
but, change is a signal for rebirth.
Change is constant.
Creation, maintenence, destruction,
and reinvention is throughout the cosmos;
part of everything in existence.
Creation is accelerating and we are a part of this.
All we can do is try to make each change
happier, higher and more joyful.
 
"Change" can be a plus, IMO. Yesterday, I renewed the plates on the car....online. I still had to go get a safety inspection at a nearby auto shop, but then I was able to do the rest, at home....in minutes. In years past, I had to go to the DMV office, 15 miles away, wait in line, show a property tax receipt, and proof of address (utility bill, etc.)...I could kill half a day doing that. Yesterday, I had an appt. at the car shop, was in/out in 20 minutes, made a quick stop at the grocery store, and was back home in less than an hour...Change can be Great!
