@Georgiagranny …you always want a job. My personal heartfelt opinion is that you should get someone to help you make short gardening youtube videos. I actually think this could be a real thing for you…and I bet your daughter or grand would help. You would be a sensation. So many folks know NOTHING about plants at all. You are smart and funny…just sayin…

Actually, kids, I'm what's called camera shy and mic shy. Truly. I get tongue-tied and hang my head. Whatsisname, the Father of My Children, tried his darnedest to get me to make radio spots with him.
Just couldn't do it.

When DH and I were on Donahue, it was different because we weren't aware at all of the cameras, but when a local TV station up north was cruising the area after a September blizzard (yeah, September!) and stopped to talk to me when I was out with the sNOwblower, I choked and couldn't speak.

Go figure🤷‍♀️

Around noon, the rain lightened up for us to take a walk and look around. We are on high ground, and still, there is standing water everywhere. Many large tree branches have fallen and are particularly blocking various trails. There are leaves and debris everywhere. Worst of all, the pond overflowed again. If things ever dry up, we have a lot of clean up to do. For now, it's going to have to wait. So far we've gotten 3 inches of rain today, with more rain expected later today, and for the next 2 days.

The rain has held off for the last couple of days here. Got the washing dry on Saturday and my son came over today Sunday, and helped me pull
out all the weeds in my back garden. They seem to accelerate in their growth after the rain, and we managed to pull out 2 garbage tins full. Oh, my aching back. I was so grateful to him, so I made a lovely Pork Vindaloo, Yellow Rice and Papadums. There was enough for him to take home for his evening meal. He was wrapped!!

Afternoon all..its Gloriously sunny but there's really strong winds... so I'm not going to go to the County show. It's all out in the wide open space so it will be horrible in this wind..plus it's really overpriced.... so I'll forget that..

My right arm bicep still really hurts... it's gone back to being still a little too painful to lift my arm above my shoulder... not really sure how to get it better. Ive got a little bit of heavy lifting to do today as well...

Have a good day folks... 🌞 🌞

awwwww... well it's not like you weren't expecting it..:(.. don't spend any money there now...stop making them rich.... :D
I can't stop spending money there! They have all the stuff my garden needs.

Geez, the application didn't even ask reasonable questions. One was whether I could lift 25 lbs without help and operate a forklift. Yes to 25 lbs, no to forklift. But in the same question? How many people who apply actually know how to operate a forklift and why would it be necessary to work as a gofer/plant waterer at 4am? Back to the relentless effort to find a job.

And now I gotta get dressed and get my bony butt out front to dig up more iris because the darned things won't dig themselves.

Good morning, hot again but a chance of rain this afternoon. Grass is dry and gardenia plant growing with watering but no flowers. I must fertilize it.

Adopted daughter, not legal but we call her that, came over yesterday and helped clean out some of the items in our house. She is so nice and of course younger than us.

My early walk this morning at 6:50, temp was 50, stunned to see the sun for the 1st time since Monday as I walked twice around the building. I saw many runners due to the annual Buffalo Marathon which always takes place on Sun of Memorial Day weekend
I've invited my 'Buffalo family' Marcia&husband,Dave one of their son's, Alexei for brunch this morning at 11:30 in our dining room. The brunch hrs are from 10am-2pm, need to make reservation by 9:30 this morning.I called yesterday, always like to have them over brunch or dinner. I see more of Marcia than I do Dave&Alexei since both are teachers in different schools I look forward to seeing them
The rest of my day talk with my brother, read local paper, hope to take afternoon walk before the rain comes back

@Georgiagranny Last year my gardenia plant had a lot of flowers but this year only a few in April. I am surprised that plant has lasted so long, at least 10 years in a container. I keep thinking it has to be root bound. My lawn mower man cut it down last August for the freezing season that made it able for me to cover but I do not know now. It is really green and growing with new leaves and getting high.

My husband loves that plant but I have to take care of it now with him being a little disabled. It sure smells good when it blooms with flowers.

OMG I'm so hot...it's very but despite the strong winds it's hot & humid.

I've just spent the last hour and a half..cutting back the IVY... and clearing out the boot of my car of the tools I carry around . It's stupid to have them, but it's a throwback to the days when I didn't have AA cover, and I've had AA cover for years and still carried that stuff around, so now I've taken the storage box out that holds out the tools, and just put some very essentials back in, like water & oil, spare trainers, and cleaning rags ..

..but wow, I'm really hot....

Mostly sunny day ahead, finally rising to near 50F from low 40s earlier. Won't really warm up until next weekend.

But enough sunlight to put out all of my solar panels and top battery-buckets up after several days of rain and gloom recently. Always an effort jockeying the Big Guy parts but at least I can wheel those out on collapsible luggage carts.

I try to keep a set of battery-powered magnetic "road flare" lights (which can double as flashlights as needed), a fire extinguisher, a 12-volt powered tire compressor, gloves, shoes, jumper cables, rags, a rug, and a small blanket.

I've needed the tire compressor a few times and used the jumper cables to help a guy with a dead battery once. The rags get various uses when I clean the car. The blanket is for winter emergencies, but stays rolled tightly and takes little space or weight.

But I'm also out far between towns sometimes. I haven't done so many 1200 mile round trips lately, but never say never. Those run through areas with no cellphone service for 10s of miles.

Just finished lunch when Mrs. L said she thought there was a water leak in the bathroom. Sure enough there was water - yes it was water - leaking from round the pan when you flushed it. Groan.. started to disconnect the pan from its cabinet and sure enough there was a leak where the flush pipe connects to it. Fortunately I had a new seal for this, but it wasn't much fun crawling round the floor and trying to fit it. I'm not convinced that the seal is a perfect fit, so I'll see if I can get a better one when I'm next in town. Glad I didn't have to call a plumber - I dread to think of the cost on a bank holiday weekend.
