How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

So far, not great. We have no water in my building all day today (from 9 to 5). The plumbers are doing some kind of major replacement. They posted notices warning us to prepare containers of water, and to fill pails with water for flushing, if needed.

Ever try living without running water? It's possible if you plan ahead, and I know people did it for millenia and some still do, as they have no choice, but it's an adjustment for the rest of us. (Civilization has made us so spoiled.)

At least it's only one day.

Happy Wednesday, July 23 SF-ers!

Yesterday's business chores took much longer than expected - several hours - so I didn't accomplish much else. Our 20 year old grandniece arrives Friday for a week stay, so I need to start prepping: dust (ugh) the guest room, buy some snacky foods for her, and prepare for a family BBQ here on Saturday.

She's very easy company and has been coming for a week each summer for about the last 6 years so we're accustomed to each other's rhythms.

We're having an exceptionally mild July - last night's overnight low was around 60°, today's the forecast high is 84° with a comfortable 37% humidity.

Hope you all find a way to make today a good day for yourselves!

Today at a restaurant this boy, about 6, tried to push me away and struggled to get in between me and a display case, while I was waiting for my order. There were several people around so I could not move away. He kept pushing and I told him to quit. He then left and came back and tried to move me away by putting his feet up and pushing me while leaning on the wall. I said stop and his father heard me and told him to get out of the way.

He did move when the father and 5 other of his children left. Obviously he wasn't taught manners and was just being mean. It makes me not want to go there again.

The cat fixer lady brought momcat and the two remaining kittens back last night after having them neutered. She released them in the side yard where she had trapped them. They immediately dove under the house before I could get a glimpse of them.

I put food on the porch where they had liked to hang out but a big visiting cat (who we suspect is the dad) ate it. I sat out there this morning but not a sign of them. I leave kibble and water and have a can of wet food at the ready.

The poor things must be traumatized.

I can so relate to your breathing difficulties. Mine are caused by heart failure not lung issues. The humidity seems to make it worse.

I think the greatest danger in growing old is feeling useless. Thus, it's of utmost importance to having a family, friends, a hobby, a goal, religious devotion, or anything that connects you and gives meaning to your life. And I also have three dogs that need my daily care and love.

My 10 year old, 96 pound Boxer dog "Ross" is nearing his end. I had plenty of dogs in my life to see the unmistaken signs of it. Yes, I still have two other Boxer dogs, but they cannot replace Ross who right now sleeps next to me with his head on my feet. I know he would have given his life in defending me from any danger. No one will ever be able to replace him.

When I adopted Ross at 1 1/2 y/o from the Los Angeles Boxer Rescue, two previous owners had surrendered him because they hadn't been able to handle him. "Ross was too much of a dog," I was told. But with consistency, patience, and strong leadership, he eventually became the most loyal pup I ever had in my life.

Ross reminds me that my life is also nearing its end, but I will do my best in the remaining time.

God loves you, and so do I.
This is the day God has made for us.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Our pet cemetery remembers a dozen dogs and assorted other pets, like my daughter's snake.

Doberman "Ginger" was our children's baby sitter...............................St. Anthony, 1 of 4 Patrons of Animals, is the one for house pets.

@Georgiagranny, I dusted the guest room and while I was at it, dusted the rest of the house!

Last week I scrubbed the master shower and most of the rest of the bathroom, but didn't do the double Jacuzzi tub because DH wasn't home, and that's a slippery beast. So while i was dusting the bedroom, I asked him to spot me while I cleaned the tub and the surrounding tile. My back is aching from all the bending over, but the bathroom gleams so it was worth the effort.

We haven't used that tub in at least 25 years, partly because I've never been a bathtub or hot tub person, and partly because filling it requires a lot of water.

Morning all, on my early walk at 6:50 temp was 63 I wore my sweatshirt as I walked around the building 2x before breakfast
This morning at 9;30, Mary is picking me up our weekly 'road trip' going to local grocery store, Wegmans, need couple of items. In return she'll be getting her usual reading material, last Weds- Fri NYT, Suns{7/20} Bflo News,Mon&Tues NYT. She doesn't buy any papers, loves catching up on what's happening in the world &locally
My close friends, Marcia& hubby Dave{my buddy boy, Tage's parents} are here for lunch today at 12:15,look forward to seeing them. I'm trying to get my food allowance down as far as I can buy the end of the month. Whatever is left after 7/31, I can't roll it over
The rest of my day, take afternoon walk if not too warm, read today's NYT
When Mary showed up at 9:30 she was a passenger in another Tudor PLaza{ apt building where I used to live} resident, Patrick,a nice surprise. He's a real estate agent, he sold my co op apt. He's a great guy hadn't seen him for awhile, perfect way to start my day. I had a great time at lunch with Marcia&Dave,as usual.

It was yesterday. Normal training at the gym, but my old partner showed up. She's nearly 80 and a English speaking-world renown reading researcher and author. My kid's hero as well!

Went on a mc ride w my future s-i-l (not official). He's very good rider and great person to ride with, he could easily leave me in the dust. I took him up the N Fk Big Lost. It was cold, windy and we got spritzed on a bit. Didn't see any big game or grouse.

Today went for a 200 mile rt outing on the 900. I had to alter my route as I came on a chip and seal operation so I didn't make it to Lowman and the S Fk Payette. Saw around 25 antelope in 2 groups, a pair of SH Cranes, 4 hawks(northern harrier, redtails) 1 deer, but no grouse. Only took 1 pic overlooking Titus Lake turnout.

We have the Celebrant who is doing Mum's funeral service coming to see us this afternoon. I've just spent some time writing a potted history of Mum's life for her to use as reference. I'm in bits here now
When my mother died, heaven gained an angel. Like you, I was in bits, and, just nine years old. In my mind, my heart, and my life, she is still completely present to this day, seventy years on, and just as wise, compassionate and stubborn as ever.
Wishing you peace, Oy. Remember, there's no shame in grief or tears. My condolences to you.
