Do you feel better today @HoneyNut ?

I think so, but I haven't done my usual walk (usually go for one long walk, but today I've done just a short walk to attend a protest and then the short walk back home). It's cold and windy today, so I'll wait for better weather to see if I'm back to normal.

I'd emailed the Lima bean people, and I got two emails back which is confusing. The first email tells how to heat them in the microwave, but the second email says both that they have had most of their cyanide removed, but then says to cook according to package directions (which is stovetop, not microwave) "for other reasons" (whatever those are?).

Email one:
Suggestions for Microwave cooking

Remove the Lima Beans or Succotash from the bag and place them in a microwavable safe dish. Add water to bottom of dish, not cover the Lima beans completely. Cover dish lightly and cook for 3-4 minutes, checking after that. If additional time is needed. Heat in 1-minute intervals until heated through to your liking.

Email two:
Hanover Frozen lima beans have been soaked and then blanched, which deactivates the enzymes and removes most of the cyanide. ...
All that being said, our lima beans need to be cooked per the directions on the packaging for other reasons.

I'd go with email 2 but dunno why, really. Hope you will be ok.

Since it's a Presidents' Day holiday weekend, I'm not expecting to go anywhere beyond a long walk around the 'hood. 72° for a high today, so perfect weather for that!

I plan to do a little business work - invoicing and helping set up DH's new desktop computer, but those won't take too big a bite out of my day. Also want to make a batch or two of biscotti. Might mop all the floors...

It will be a mostly kicked back, play it as it lays, kind of day.
HI StarSong, see if you can work some magic, send the warm temps east for those of us who are shivering in bone chilling temps. The high today here in Buffalo was 18 Sue

In the UK Covid all but created the, "Work From Home" concept. My thoughts were that it was a malingerer's charter, but that was knowing nothing about such arrangements. At work today, contractors doing some building work, hit a mains cable and knocked the power out.

A phone call from work explained what had happened and could I help. My reticence must have carried in my voice but one of the bright young things talked me through accessing the programs and then the files that I needed, from then on it was much the same as when I help out in the office. I got through all that was asked of me but confession time, I was logged on here much more than usual. What am I like?

They had the power back on at work about three hours after the incident, in the event they could have covered the downtime but as the manager there said later, they weren't to know just how long it would take. Good point.

My lady has been in and out of her cabin most of the day, the outfit is beginning to take shape. Leaving her to it, I cooked the evening meal, chilli con carne, which I then posted in the: What are you cooking or baking today? thread.

Chatted with my daughter in Texas. They and a couple of other RVers are staying put for a couple more days prior to dealing with weather conditions while heading north east. She did comment on the lack of eggs. Empty shelves.

Last night we finally got some snow. Because it’s Family Day, the snow plows haven’t been out in full force. It was difficult being sure when and where I was stepping off of a sidewalk. It‘s mild at just at freezing and no wind.

I don't know what's wrong with me..I've just slept again for another 2 hours, so whatever got me yesterday hasn't gone away...

I just feel rotten tbh...and it's 10.30pm.. and tomorrow I've got the internet people coming to lay new Fibre Optic into the house, and also the DIY handyman coming for the first time ..so I have to be well.. and then the next day I've got a dentist appt to have 2 teeth removed...so I really do have to get better quickly...

I hope you are doing better HoneyNut. I've never heard that about lima beans (cyanide content). I've had dry ones here for over a decade and will probably never cook them. Last limas I had were canned. I would think that they wouldn't be tender enough, cooking them in the microwave.

I had the same husband, he always walked out of the room ... especially in the last year of our marriage ( clearly he'd met the marriage destructor by then, but I didn't know that )... it's very frustrating.. but when you've lived with someone for a very long time, and especially if you have a nice home and maybe rely on their financial contribution, it's often harder to do anything about your situation.. I understand that.. I also understand when people tell you just to leave... you can't just up and do that on a whim.....you don't want to be living in a car...

I used to get people saying that to me, and eventually I would just avoid them.. I wanted to be able to talk, but I didn't want anyone telling me what I should do.... and therefore.. if you wanna talk..talk.. I'll listen..I won't offer any advice unless it's asked for.. if you don't want to talk about it, and wish you'd never mentioned it on here.. that's fine also...

There is a bad cold going around and it last week plus .

I finally mended one of my jumpers today out of necessity. The rest of my house only outfits are in the laundry. I got the kitchen cleaned up early. I mention these because they are two of my least favorite chores and I feel like I've really accomplished something today. 🏅😂. And typing this reminds me that I won't have to dirty anymore dishes tonight because I have a pot pie I can heat up for dinner. 😛

Morning folks....been awake since 3am, now 4am, snowing still
but little accumulation, maybe one inch so far, temp is 1F now...
was kept awake by terrible rash flare-up, itch itch all nite...grrrrrr....dunno when this snow will end, got to get someone to clean it up so I can get grocery delivery....oh heck.... :) :coffee:

It's not a cold.. I don't know what it is but it's not a cold..I don't get colds, and this has no symptoms of a cold....

It's 10.20 am and despite the internet engineer being booked for after 1pm he knocked at 10am and I was in the shower... good grief, I'm worried... i think he might have started doing this job yesterday he's so dim . He said he wanted to look at the job before he comes later to do it, then he said he might not have access to a hoist to get up the telegraph pole, then he said there was an issue where the wire would go into my house.. then he said blah blah........I was fed up listening to him in the end...

I told him this job has been booked for weeks, dates changed all the time, and today it needs to be done !

For my morning exercise, took the elevator up to top floor{6th} walked that hallway, then down to the 5th floor doing the same My mid morning walk will go to 4th& 3rd hallways. Each of the 6 hallways here at Gates has a different color scheme with matching chairs by the elevators,. A few pictures or,quilts hang on the walls done by some of residents

The snow and cold are coming, starting today!

😨 "THEY" say I will be getting 9-14 inches of snow today, and temps won't go above freezing for at least 3 days. Overnight lows are going to be in the single digits. I expect to be home for at least a week, maybe longer. I never did get to town yesterday, but I've been stocking up on food...no one is going to starve over here!

I have been "out of sorts" for the last week or two. Besides being rundown, my eyes are bothering me, and they seem to be a bit worse this morning. I guess I'll have plenty of time to rest this week!

My eyes want to rest, so that's all from me for now. Wishing everyone a good day!

Hello, Everyone here. Hope it's okay to just pop in.

Today my goal is to get on a ladder, use the "no mold" spray on the ceiling of the bathroom and clean the fan. It's one of those chores that gets put off because it's a pain, but is strangely rewarding when finally completed.

It's going to be cold today: 31F/-1C, and the next few days, but then I'm looking forward to a predicted warm up.

@Trila Try artificial tears for your eyes. My ophthalmologist told me years ago that they would help. She was right. And maybe it's time for you to visit one? Not an optometrist or optician, an MD who specializes in eyes.

It's cold here again but sunny for now. If the lord's willing and the creeks don't rise (as we used to say in Texas), we'll only get cold rain here tomorrow, and the sNOw will stay a good bit north of us.

Dentist appointment this morning to get my dentures relined and the lowers either repaired or replaced. I'm expecting my little stash of cash to disappear before noon

@hollydolly Maybe by now all those IT problems have been resolved. I've had my fingers crossed🤞🤞
