How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

I had an appointment with my optometrist this morning. My new prescription, which will be filled at Costco, is mostly a change with my right eye. He said the prescription for the left eye will hardly be noticeable. It is an adjustment in the astigmatism which actually got better.

After the appointment, my son went back to Dollar Tree, where he had gone while he was waiting for me.because I told him I wish I'd known he was going because I needed a few things. The only thing on my list that they didn't have was Lime Away.

This evening I went to the studio to sit with my honorary son while he did his broadcast. His guest was a transgender woman with whom he discussed her journey to get where she is as well as how being transgender has affected her health care. She is also a cancer survivor. I got to chat with her a little before and after the broadcast which was done via Zoom. Amazing process!

After eating dinner, which was most of an El Monteray bean & cheese burrito that I got from Dollar Tree, I took a nap. Now it's time for dessert.... chocolate fudge ice cream also gotten from Dollar Tree. I never heard of the brand (Founders Street), but I got it so my son wouldn't have to make another stop.

@hawkdon I'm so sorry to read that you're experiencing pain again.

Since two of my three couldn't make family dinner this month we are off to my son's house to visit and go to brunch. Yay! No cooking!
We have done family dinner for a year now and DH and I did a review and discussed it with the kids. We won't do it every month going forward. Certain months are too busy for everyone. And, it is a bit much for us. My daughter will host in May because all her kids birthdays are around that month.
DH and I like to travel spring and fall . We decided on hosting Feb, March, June, Aug, and Nov. DD hosts Thanksgiving. Christmas will be alternated. We will go to them in between like today!
I think this will work for everyone.

A beautiful sunny day here. The AA meeting (only my fourth) was tough. The topic was Step 9/making amends. But what if someone won't let you make amends? (I'm asking that rhetorically—I'm not seeking an actual answer.) I've tried so hard to make amends with my son, and he's just not having it.

I'm trying not to let it get me down. I stopped by Home Goods after the meeting and treated myself to a few small items. I'll be going for a walk later today to get some fresh air and exercise, and, of course, I have work to do. Monday/Tuesday deadlines are looming!

I hope you all have a great day.
It takes time but your son has to see you walking the walk every day, day after day, month after month, and year after year. This won't happen overnight. Be patient. Don't push.

Discovered this morning that the rest of the milk in the carton has gone sour. Grrr. Good thing I bought milk yesterday. Then discovered that a Dunkin Donuts coffee pod that I thought I rescued from DGD's stash yesterday is "creamy" vanilla. Um...that is, it has the cream built in. Yuck. I wanted coffee, not a trendy creation. Dumped it and made a cup of real coffee and used the fresh milk. Whew. That was better.

DD had the gutters cleaned yesterday. Then a howling wind came along and blew a crapton of leaves only in the gutter outside The Hovel. Nowhere else on the house. Just The Hovel. The gutters are covered with screens, but if the leaves settle there and get deep enough rain water just runs off them and onto...me! when I'm sitting on the teeny, tiny patio. Sigh. Guess who's gonna get out the ladder and sweep off the gutter?

From here the day will get better, right? LOL

Be careful on that ladder!

Good morning everyone, well I had a lucky Power Ball win. I don't know how I will spend it but it was the power ball in red, which means I will win $4.00. :D

The Atlantic Ocean is clear now of all disturbances, so that is good news.

It will rain today, if it happens, for a couple of hours.

Have a good day, everyone.:)

Can a hunter do all the things morally and legally required and still enjoy the horns? It's kinda like finding a rock at Craters of the Moon, it's a keepsake or a memento of the hunt to be cherished long after the meat is gone.

This particular animal was a 1 1/2 yo male so it horns were barely a foot long and still covered w velvet so they stayed in the woods.
Well, the horns are one thing, but the whole head I find disturbing, is all. Knew hunters in Wisconsin. Didn't like seeing actual animal faces. Disrespectful, IMO

Just waiting for daylight to go for my walk. Very light smoke in the air. I am not sure where the fire is, but this season has been one of the least smoky in many years.

After the heart attack scare and two days in the hospital, they found no sign of heart attack and nothing wrong with my heart. That will teach me to never see another PCP if my PCP is on vacation. My regular doc would have known my symptoms were not a heart attack and related to my nerve problems. Anyway, now I know my heart is in great shape.

My PCP has ordered a MRI for neck and head, so we shall see if there is any progression to Mylan sheath damage or if my symptoms are coming from damage in the neck.

My visit to the eye doc was good and new recommended glasses with the premium wider angle no blur zone progressive lens, have really made a difference. I had to get frames that gave the lens their best function and of course they were the most expensive. The best fit was the new fashion clear frame, made by Versace. According to one granddaughter, I am now part of the latest eyewear fashion rage. Hollywood can kiss my ass. :ROFLMAO: They set me back about a grand, but worth it. I now have panoramic vision and no blurring.

I already feel the eye strain gone and love the new wide range of vision. Ever since I started wearing glasses, I have worn progressive. I always opted for the basic progressive lens because the better ones didn't offer that much improvement. These new supreme ones do offer a very noticeable difference and well worth the extra $300.

So, the old man is awake and noticing some injustices in the back yard that involved neighborhood cats. It looks as if my non eventful day is getting exciting. So now I go out to upright the overturned pot and all should be back to normal.

Yesterday I went to the gym to lift weights. Then helped my daughter clean out her tool shed and get her weed whacker working. Then went downtown with my wife to buy art supplies for a class I start Monday. Then watched the U.S. Open women's final.

Today it's pouring rain and I don't know what we'll do. We hadn't planned for this. Maybe...nothing?

Thanks, @hearlady; that's very kind.

The split happened more than 6 years ago. After that, I got clean from benzos and turned my life completely around. It was the fact that even after 6 years of clean and successful living it still didn't happen that led me to start drinking heavily. And he has no idea what goes on in my life. I'm not on social media, and I know for a fact that he and his sisters never discuss me.

I'm not trying to sound negative, just clarifying the situation. Thanks again. You and so many others have been very kind and supportive, and it means a lot. :)

With respect to today, it's another beautiful sunny day here. In addition to working, I'm going to sweep out my garage. The sand they use on the roads here in the winter tends to build up and needs to be swept out, so that's my big physical chore for the day. 🧹

@hearlady I decided against bothering with the leaves in the gutter so there's no danger of falling off the ladder.

@Rae As my mama used to say, "Don't spend it all in one place." If you spend a little in a bunch of places, you'll have more stuff ;).

I watered all the flowers, cleaned the litter box, made hummingbird food.

Did you know that hummers consume their own body weight every day? They have to eat every 10 minutes or so. And they have to store about 50% of their body weight to fuel their migration south in the fall. You gotta wonder when they have time for family life, household chores, relaxation...

Ate leftover bread pudding for breakfast. Is it naptime yet?

Phew, glad you decided against cleaning that gutter, GG. When your SIL or DD has time they can do it safely in a few minutes.
I can do it safely, too. I just don't feel like it!🪜

Awake too early and contemplating vacuuming. Will drink my coffee instead.
When you're done with your coffee and have finished vacuuming, c'mon over. I need vacuuming done, too. Oh...wait...there are a couple of small stains that need to be cleaned up first. Wudju mind? TIA
