Weird. When I went in to the Lab to have blood drawn the phlebotomist was wearing a mask and seemed a little "out of it" though competent at her job.

I asked if we're soon facing mandatory masking for these facilities again and she said no. For all I know they slap on a mask whether they have Covid or an STD these days. Nobody else was masked there though, and when I returned a few hours later with "samples" to drop off I saw no masks. No patients were masked.

So I don't know what to expect.

No, there was no way to save it as an ordinary file with access like .txt or .doc
When it comes to any kind of files I'll want to edit, print out, revisit, or move forward to new computers, I avoid apps and programs that don't play nicely with others, i.e., no option to export data to pdf, doc, jpg, png or other common formats. Been there, done that, not interested in more aggravating lessons.

True, many of these apps can be used for free or a couple of dollars, but by my experience that's all they're worth in the long run. YMMV

People mask up for any one of a hundred personal reasons. Working in a lab where your face is 18" from the faces of dozens of strangers each day would motivate me to wear one. It's Covid, RSV, flu and garden-variety-head-cold season.
No need to read anything into your phlebotomist wearing a mask.

Well it's racing towards 4.30pm almost dark... what a day ! I'm so glad I don't rely on buses to get around. I checked the time table to go down to get my car, and just as I got to the bus stop he was pulling away.. and I was 10 minutes early, so it was another half hour wait. I decided to walk to the next bus stop just for the exercise.. ooooh my god, the wind was like Raw Ice... sunny beautiful day . blue skies, and frrreeezing winds.. nearly froze my face off 🥶🥶..it's -1..now..

Still , it's quite funny because I've had this house for 43 years and really only know my neighbours.. but standing at the bus stop on my own, several people chatted for a few minutes or said Hi.. as they walked past... I have never set eyes on these people but they seem to live in my road...just goes to show how we isolate ourselves using the mighty motor..

ETA :...I just realised that in one week's time I will have had this house for 44 years

Eventually got my car... what a shock tho'.. not £300 as he'd quoted but £550😩... so I asked him for a discount for cash and he agreed. ..and even let me take the car to go home and get the cash....I have a trustworthy face lol..

The amusing thing is they didn't do the MOT themselves they took it to a company that I usually use... which is the other side of town, very funny.. and it passed..

For those who have been following this story @Capt Lightning and @jet This is what I got for Cash £435

1.MOT Inspection..

2.Front side light bulb replaced

3. Front passenger side complete lower suspension arm & brushes replaced..

4. Front Drivers side.. same as above..

He did say that he was impressed at how well I keep my car.. he called it a great little motor..:D

However now my radio isn't working so I have to see if I can find the code for it and get it reset

From the garage I drove to Specsavers.. and picked up my new sunglasses.. and they'd previously said I was due £49 refund.. in fact they gave me £59... so that took a chunk out of the pain of the Car repairs..

Then to the supermarket and spent all the refund lol....not that I got much for it.. but I did get some Gammon joints and Lamb... and a new polo neck jumper.. Pink wool... might have been off the same sheep 😛

I think by now everyone knows that masks only work one way when they help at all, and that's to keep you from infecting others.

Still raining. When it stops, the winds are supposed to start up and blow us all the way to the Atlantic Ocean or somewhere. There didn't seem to be many people in the store this morning, probably because of the pouring rain.

Wait till next week when the daytime temps are only going to be in the mid-30s and nighttime temps down to 12-15. Eek!

When I got to work this morning, Sir was already there and had started baking 🥐 🥐 and proofing 🍞🍞. Because he'd already done that, I was done early again and got to leave about 10:30. Tomorrow will be a different story because it's NL's day off, and Sir won't be there before 10. I'll have a mountain of work to do...oh, well, it's what I'm paid to do, right?

I was feeling a bit off this morning, and the fire/rescue dudes come in every morning to shop for whatever's going to be their dinner. I asked one of them to take my BP. Um. 165/95. That's not good! It's usually in the 130/80 range. It was a little high on Friday when I saw the cardio doc, and he suggested increasing my BP meds, but I really thought it was registering higher because the derma doc had just numbed my head and scraped a mole for a biopsy.

Now, my gramma and Whatsisname, the Father of My Children, both in the medical field, drummed it into my head that we don't prescribe to the doctor. I should have paid attention. Sent off a message to the cardio doc and agreed to having BP med increased or changed.

Then...Kaiser sent me a message saying the results of the biopsy were available. I read the results. There wasn't one thing that meant anything to me. Why can't that stuff be written so that mere mortals can understand it? She told me that I'd probably get the results before she did, but that she'd let me know when she has them. Okay. Either it's benign or it's not. Guess I'll hear from her in the next day or two.

@hollydolly I'm delighted on your behalf that your car passed the MOT and that the repairs have been done. Also glad you've finally got your sunglasses. But...you spent the whole refund on the specs before you even got home? LOL

When you pick up @timoc on your way to Inverness, stop and fetch me, too. And we might as well pick up @Pepper and drop her off in London. Wait. Maybe I don't want to go to Inverness. I'll go with @Pepper to London. We can do a little shopping. I haven't been in Marks & Spencer in more than 40 years.

Then explain why you basically only see masks on those who are ill or test positive or are clinically neurotic? Or why venues like operating theaters mask the staff but not the patient?

I know people cling to the narrative, and if it calms then then fine. But wishing doesn't make a thing so.

Ironically every study that shows otherwise is pooh-poohed as "flawed" but when the thinnest shred supports masking it is held up by the orthodoxy and media uncritically as fact and trumpeted.

Even my Cardiologist can hardly keep from laughing at the gullibility of the public over this issue.

I don't care enough to try to convince anybody. A closed mind is a lot of trouble to open.

OR patients typically have their noses and mouths covered by anesthesia/oxygen masks.

For every laughing cardiologist there are a hundred ER doctors who still weep at the horrors they saw.

I won't bother addressing the rest of your post. Believe what you want.

Quiet day, staying in again. Will be busy enough from later on remaining weekdays. My monthly work time 🤣🤣🤣. Too many things to do but I'll be spreading it along this new year, no rush at all. Those days are gone...

Lunch was delicious cream of broccoli soup and the last of the turkey salad in toasted sandwiches. Dinner is a Tuesday comfort food, spicy chilli served over fluffy buttered rice in about two hours as we had lunch later today after jumping in the shower to clear off and be ready to do shopping this week.

For a long time, I wondered why two days of the week were in such contrast. I've hated Mondays for as long as I remember and my absolute favourite day of the week is Wednesday!

Once I'd opened the genealogy file, I found the answers. GGM Maggy was the one who had the same feelings for these two days of the week. Funny coincidence but oh so true 😸😸😸

The wind has started here and it's a blowin'!!!!

@Georgiagranny ... when I think about it.. 40 years ago, M&S sold delicious sweets and chocolates they don't sell them any more.. just regular sweets and not a great variety like they once did...

However I'm thinking back..I would have been in my 20's then, and M&S altho' obviously modernised through the decades hasn't really changed... altho' they've closed a lot of the smaller stores and opened bigger ones in their stead.

The one thing you won't have met are the M&S dedicated food stores.. they are 1/4 size M&S stores which sell food only...

As for my £59 refund.. I had to get groceries anyway.. so it would have been spent even if I hadn't got it back... however I've just looked at my Credit card account online and it's not showing the refund on it.. so I'll give that until tomorrow and then see if it's there , never had that happen before.. so I don't know who to ring, if I need to.. either my bank or Specsavers..

Well, well, ladies, this young fella has only two arms, one for Holly and one for GG, so I'll have to give Pepper a piggy back ride.
Inverness, here we come, it might be a good idea to stop and have us some fish and chips with Nessie at the Lochside. 😊
