There isn't a community dining room? I'm trying to get a sense of your new place. I pictured it sort of like assisted living, but that doesn't seem to be the case?

It was raining at 4, and DD said it rained for about an hour. The rain is taking a break for a little while, then back again according to the radar. It's too wet to play in the dirt :(

I was gonna stay until 10...until I got there and discovered that absolutely nothing that needed to be done to get ready for the morning had been done. I was kinda put out about it until I found out that Sir called out sick yesterday. So much for a mental health week...I need permanent time off.

Did what I could and left what I was too tired to do. Saturday is usually the day I clean the oven, but since I was still tending to my mental health yesterday, it didn't get cleaned. It didn't get cleaned today, either. I'm off tomorrow. It won't get cleaned tomorrow. Maybe somebody else will clean it? LOL Somehow it's become "my" job.

Morning folks,,light rain here in NW PA.
Hubby dug a hole for me to put my new shrub in.
It's supposed to detract deer.

Hubby got the weed whacker going, knocked some weeds.

After I got done some weed pulling & watering new plant , I was ready for a nap!
That is not normal for me.. wanting a morning nap???

Thinking toasted cheese sandwiches & tomato soup for lunch

Yesterday's Bar Be Q chicken was tough & the French fries weren't any better.
I think I've lost my cooking skills.

Lunch sounds good!

What an eclectic day I've had. Very hot.. much hotter than was predicted so I didn't put any sun factor lotion on... oh boy was it hot..

We went to the pub for lunch... then we went over to visit my friends' brothers' grave.. to take flowers, ... then to the park and the river.. and walked for 3 miles along the canal and stopped again for a drink at the cafe... then walked back again..

We took the wrong path through the park to get to where we'd parked and ended up a mile from the cars...and it was all uphill too... sore legs sore feet, the last thing we needed was another mile walk :D

In summer it's usually full dark by about 8:45-9pm. We're way south, so it's light later in the morning and earlier at night.

When we lived in the UP, in summer it was already starting to get light in the morning around 3:30, not dark until 10. Winter was a whole nuther story: almost full dark by 4pm, not daylight until around 7:30-8am.

I'm so depressed that I'd have to reach up to tie my shoes. Family :poop:. Work :poop:. It's all very tiring. I can quit the job, but quitting family isn't possible. And I'd really like to go "home" to the UP to visit my fave brother. I haven't seen him since DH died. Actually, in spite of the brutal climate, I'd like to just move back there.

I'm off tomorrow and think instead of staying up late because it's not a school night, I'll just do regular going-to-work bedtime and get back into my working-next-day sleep schedule.

Cheer me up.

Can chickens give you problems? You bet. My wife has one hen but wanted more eggs. So a month ago, she bought two little chickens that we transferred into the chicken coop yesterday. Today I noticed the hen was chasing the chickens. By placing a board inside, I divided the coop into two parts: left the hen, and right the two little ones. So far, so good.

Last night I placed a heating lamp into the upper compartment, and all three chickens slept there peacefully. But after this morning's events, will they also be peace tonight? I am holding my breath.

well despite it saying that sunset was at 9.15pm it didn't actually get dark until 9.35pm... beautiful golden sunset tho'..... after the summer solstice on the 20th of June, it starts to get dark 1 minute earlier every day

My son and I had a sit down today. Part of it was a business meeting about finances and music. The other was just conversation about what's been happening in our lives recently and our plans for the next couple of weeks. As usual, we wound up laughing hysterically about a couple of things. Afterward I finished putting the last couple of items back into the storage closet. I'm pleased with this new arrangement, but will soon have to find the best way to fit a 30 roll bundle of toilet paper in there without sacrificing the extra " get in and reach for items" space that was freed up when we took the air conditioner out.

I cleared off the dining table. More of those large election flyers accumulated as well as a package I hadn't opened. I also loaded the dishwasher twice (afternoon and night) and ran it once this afternoon. I mention loading the dishwasher sometimes because loading this countertop dishwasher model is a little more complicated and time consuming than loading a regular dishwasher. Also it's a task I don't like doing, so getting it done feels like a real accomplishment to me. The rest of the day was spent napping, watching TV, playing games and of course, seeing what's happening here on the forum.
